Starfleet Academy Official Trailer

Holly Hunter is okay.

The Cadets seem like college kids, which makes sense and is fine. Like with Prodigy, I don't think I'm the audience for this, but I also ended up liking Prodigy, so we'll see.

... but then there's Paul Giamatti. I said earlier that he'd be "love it or hate it". Right now, I'm not going to lie, I think he seems like he should be the Main Villain in a Kids Movie.

A lot of reused assets around earth. Bunch of Mushroom heads from ESD, a bunch of MIDAS arrays

There's a STO Klingon ship at 2:04

This is not good.

Paul Giamatti. Really?

This is a skip for me. But I might watch the pilot to confirm my suspicions.

Holly Hunter looks a bit iffy, but sometimes a character grows on you. Giamatti will chew that scenery, that's for sure. The age bracket is not my own, but maybe it'll be like Prodigy as mentioned above, and I'll be drawn in. Hopefully they can combine this with a new Kirk-centered series or Bakula gets his more political foray into the Trek universe. Whatever happens, happy to still be getting new Trek...

Holly Hunter's character has a bunch of gold ships

Oberth, Defiant, NX, Excelsior, Intrepid, and galaxy, plus 3 can't identify

This is hardly new terminology:
The term "war college" has roots in the mid-1700s, with its first known English use appearing in 1762. The concept of a modern war college originated with the Prussian General War Academy, founded in 1810 to address military shortcomings revealed by defeats against Napoleon I.

Oddly, I didn't love a lot of the bits of acting we saw in this.

Particularly that one line from the Klingon cadet. It was
So.
Ridiculously.
Slowed.
Down.

And delivered with such overdone deep voice effect. I burst out laughing!

That being said, Paul Wesley and Brett Gray aside, casting has been such a consistently strong suit of all streaming Trek that I have to believe these performances will be great in context.

Looks like they need to rediscover the true spirit of Starfleet, cause that ain't it.

It was ok but I hope it's not Teen angst. I hope they actually use Starfleet academy as a tool because one thing I didn't like about Wednesday season two was Nevermore didn't really have much of a purpose. They could have done that story anywhere.

I did like Giamatti though and nice of them
To finally show Tilly.
