Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

All I have to do is look at the various response emojis, the real ones, not the snide ones that you include in your posts, to know which way the wind blows on this board. People on this board, a Star Trek board, are growing increasingly tired of gatekeepers, canonistas and Thermians.
I will use your method of emojis.

Maybe gatekeepers are getting tired of you. Did you ever think about that?

Yeah, the same way Berman and Co. were rewriting the TNG era post Star Trek First Contact.
Again I don't know how many times I have to repeat it over the last few years but no Trek show has ever rewritten stuff on the level/size that SNW/Disco has. Also no Trek ever created a turbolift interior the size of the grand canyon. One blunder I have yet to see anyone come up with an explanation for. Haha. And do you know why? Because it simply cannot be explained away. It was pure silliness and sadly much of this season of SNW looks to be one big comedy. Breaks my heart...

Same with a bottomless pit in Nemesis. Haha how stupid that was.

I didn't say it needed them I was just responding to a quote....
Stating an observation that Trek fandom is becoming less inclusive, more mocking, and not living up to the vaunted ideals of the franchise.

I shouldn't be surprised given how Abrams was treated but I am. Surprised and disappointed :sigh:

Thermians were the good guys.

Gatekeepers opinions about mean even less to me than gatekeepers opinions about Star Trek. But, for some reason, I feel as if I will no longer be getting notifications to your blathering nonsense. All you're doing at this point is spitting in the wind by finding different ways to say the same thing over and over and over again. Goodbye.

That Nemesis scene was nowhere near the city sized rollercoaster interiors of modern Trek turbolift interiors.

Zefram Cochrane in FC was a lot taller (and older-looking) than he was in TOS. The creators have been playing loose with the different levels of continuity for many decades.
I saw a similar discussion in the Superman thread and I realized that growing up with Batman and Superman made me a lot easier on continuity obsession than others. I welcome variety in my storytelling, not limitations.

Here's my opinion:

I can't choose how I feel about continuity issues and I don't think that I should need to. Other people can choose to be more accepting of my feelings however.

Haha. Don't worry Ray. It's not easy to debate on an board dedicated to a certain show or subject because it's bound to have more fans than ones who are going to be a bit more objective and critical. As I keep saying both SNW/DISCO got some things things right. There is stuff that I can cherry pick and really enjoy.

I remember when Zefram Cochran got recast. Some people really were angry about his appearance. But cast changes are like a lot of visual updates to me. Not a big deal. But then sometimes they are....for instance it they decide to make Cochran a woman...
