I kept thinking that Spock broke out of it by punching the guy because you need to do something in the fantasy you would never do in real life, which could have led to interesting hijinks tricking people into doing things they'd never do. But they didn't do anything like that, Chapel just broke out randomly and the episode ended.
Intense emotion breaks you out, and he delivered that incredibly romantic verse which broke her out of it.

That's more age appropriate. The new series with him as kirk is probably another 3 to 5 years away. With how he looks now ots just not going to work. He'll be Patrick Stewart's age when he started as Picard. If the show lasts 3 to 5 years he'll be past The Motion Picture Shatner. They really should have picked a younger actor.

So here's a question then. Could Peck or the actress that plays Uhura be able to pull off Phase 2 versions?

He's a Q. The writers have confirmed it. Not sure how I feel about it. I liked that the debate always was out there. It was one of the more fun debates. I think revisiting old characters from TOS and TNG is starting to get a little too much. I really wanted this show to be its own thing but more than half the TOS crew is on the show now and we are meeting their old enemies. What next a cameo appearance if the doomsday machine? Balok?
Jesus Christ. I know exactly how I feel about it.
Treading old grounds just makes the galaxy feel smaller than usual.
Fuck this noise.

Yeah, well, when it's my turn to be showrunner I'm going to make the Organians part of the Q continuum too. And the Thasians, Metrons, Prophets and Nagilum. And Transfigurations is going to turn out to be the Q's origin story.

Actually, no, Star Trek: The Motion Picture is the birth of the first Q, and it was the Borg who rebuilt V'Ger. But the Borg turn out to be a crew of humans who crash landed in the Delta Quadrant years in the past because of... I dunno... Michael Burnham.

In the end it turns out that Michael Burnham is responsible for literally everything in Star Trek (except for Tribbles, that was Edward), and we can finally tie this all together.

Is God a Q also? Didn't Q say he knows him? Did the other Q put him behind the barrier? How is Apollo connected? So the Thasians were just Q before they learned how to take the powers back from humans that they bestowed it on? How about that old man that killed entire species with a bad thought? Did the Q make the guardian before they learned how to time travel on their own? Was Gary Mitchell part Q?Come on dude tell us more!!!

I don't remember Q saying he knew God. Maybe a god? At any rate I hope to god they never show God. They need to leave some mystery to the universe. That reminds me of the Show Supernatural. They put all the cards on the table and had the brothers defeat just about a every deity you could think of including the Almighty himself ... 😂.....what's the point after that??? 😉

So, is Korby not affected by Trelane because he is already an android?
Korby wasn't affected because Trelane intentionally left him out of the illusion, as a means to really twist the knife in. "I'm making you're girlfriend get married to someone else, everyone else is going to think it's normal but only you will know it's wrong and no one will believe you."
A Combination of HiJinks & Bottle episode.
Due to the presence of guest stars and new sets built for this episode it does not fit any definition of "bottle episode" at all.

It’s interesting that people seem to assume this is the end of the story for Chapel’s and Spock’s relationship. I’m sure we’re on a break of them actually being a couple, but their story feels like such an overarching aspect of the show, that I doubt this is where it all ends. Heck, they weren’t a couple for most of this story, as someone else pointed out. So I’m pretty sure it will all pick up in later episodes, even if we’re just back to wanton looks and furtive heartache for the time being.

In my opinion, it was Strange New Worlds first legitimate dud.
I haven’t rewatched it yet, but having had some time to think about this episode I tend to agree. Never before did the storytelling feel this unfocussed and lackluster on this show. I wouldn’t have minded, actually, if the script had leaned more heavily into the surreal, dreamlike quality of Trelane’s illusion (like a sort of Trek take on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). I guess they were going for a sort of farcical comedy, but it was way too tame for me to work as that. It didn’t help that it feel like it ended five minutes after Spock had figured out it was all an illusion. It’s just so disjointed and ultimately kinda pointless. Although I will admit that I’m pretty sure “Wedding Bell Blues” works much better when watched high or shitfaced.

That said, I failed to mention in my first post that I really like the inclusion of Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, because I just love George Michael and it’s good to know this party standard survived well into the 23rd century.

Maybe he said it in one of the books. I don't remember. Haven't really been a TNG dude since I was a kid back in the day. But I just meant the God entity from final frontier really
