Divisions Starfleet should have

Yeah, so any UFP military service would be integrated into Starfleet.
That's not the part that is Integrated.

The Hybridization is between Exploration & Knowledge Gathering along with the Military/Defense side of each Service.

The Integration is between:
StarFleet (Space Navy) = Equivalent to US Navy, but in Space
GAIMIS (Ground Army | InterStellar Marines | Integrated Security) = Equivalent to US Army & US Marine Corp combined
ASF (Aero|Space Force) = Equivalent to USAF & USMC Air & USN Air combined

All three Major Services are Integrated across the board on StarBases, StarShips, Planetary Bases, etc.

US Marines are part of the US Navy.
No real sense in having a Marine Corps and an "Army". Just make them one force. Starfleet Ground Forces (SFGF)
No reason why Starfleet can't handle all aerospace function. Starfleet Aeroforce. (SFAF)

I've already have my Head Canon setup:

UIFIS (UFP Integrated Forces of InterStellar Services) is the New Parent Branch that all the various services fall under
  • StarFleet = StarShips & StarBases & Planetary Bases, their Primary Domain is "All of Space".
  • GAIMIS = Boots on the Ground is it's own Services
  • JSOTFS (Joint Special Operations Task Force Squadrons) Group: Combines all SOF units under 1x Service Division.
  • ASF = Piloting Fighters/Auxilliary Craft gets put into it's own Service.
  • PSG (Planetary System Guards) = Equivalent to US Coast Guards, handles issues around the Local Planetary System.
  • AquaFleet = The evolution of the Federation Naval Patrol & hybrid of Coast Guard & US Navy. Local to each Planet.
  • UIC (Universe Integrity Commisions) = Deals with Time Travel, Parallel Universe, Dimensional Boundaries, etc.
    • TimeFleet = Primarily deals with Time Travel
    • RealmFleet = Primarily deals with Parallel Universes & Extra Dimensions
  • SLS (SpaceLift Logistics Service) = The Logistics Service that keeps all Services & Divisions supplied
  • ACE (Associated Corp of Engineers) = Various Engineers provide support to Construction/Manufacture/Deployment.
  • JAG (Judge Advocate General) = Legal Department
  • CSOC (Combined Services Operations Command) = Combined Services Operations C&C over all Integrated Services.
  • IFIIB (InterStellar Forces InterService Intelligence Bureau) = All-Purpose Multi-Domain Intelligence Agency that combines data over the specialized Intelligence Agencies like “StarFleet Intelligence"
  • CYCLIC (CYber Command of Linked Infrastructure & Computers) = Dedicated Computer Infrastructure Management and Defense/Oversight over CyberSpace domains within all of UIFIS along with all Computer related devices.
I never understood the need to make things more complicated than they are onscreen.
It's only as complicated as needed.
It mirrors the US Military Structure to some degree, but adapted for Crossing between the Stars & Galaxies to deal with the entire Universe.

The US Military covers the entire Globe
UIFIS covers all of Space / Time / Dimensions, they explore everything, expand as needed to anywhere they deem necessary and suitable.

The only reason is to increase the sense of realism. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you look at the deck of an aircraft carrier, there are more than three colors of uniform jerseys.

Link to an article with an explanation of the color coding of the uniform jerseys on a US aircraft carrier.

I’m just of the opinion that Star Trek hasn’t ever been limited in storytelling because of a lack of more division colors.

Heck, I’d say that the three colors are about as Trek as it can get. They’ve been identifiably Trek almost since the beginning.

I agree with both, actually, most especially the first point.

This supposed "realism" I'm talking about is a tertiary factor, and we're in the area of diminishing returns. But the TOS film series strayed from the three-department/three-color scheme, so it's not like exploring that is even against the grain.

It has to do with the window dressing, and making it fancier or more sophisticated. But, yes, it influences story not one whit.

I'm a fan of less is more. Which is the TOS/TNG approach. The TOS movies went overboard with all the colors and pins.
The monster maroons remain my favorite uniform Trek has ever done, even though I realize that they would be impractical for a daily duty uniform and are more complicated than Trek needed. I just think they look damn good.
