The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - TNG Final Rounds

My actual correct entry here, I gave a point to Conspiracy. The episode itself was fine, but the complete and total lack of follow-up hurt it retroactively.

Yeah. I recall they were going to be a precursor to the Borg, with "The Neutral Zone" also contributing via the pitted bases, but the writers' strike and all had the insectoid life form that worked with the tiny 80s neon purple crawdads being ditched (think "Battlestar Galactica from 1978" combined with cost savings) and our favorite little cybernetic critters being used instead. Very probably for the best...

"Where Silence is Lease" is okay, I don't hate the story, but I've never seen it on a best episodes list before and it definitely wouldn't have made mine. Part of the problem with it is that it's just random spooky weirdness designed to see how the characters react. The other part is that at the end Nagilum tells us what he's learned about humans, and it has nothing to do with the choices anyone made. It's just generic 'humans are barbaric etc.' stuff and it makes the whole thing seem kind of pointless.

Add in Wesley's mysterious disappearing act just so that a total rando who could have been an implanted idea on the part of Nagilum can be was Nagilum's first big victim and - voila - the episode does start to waver. Pretty great before that. IMHO, it's not the weakest but its issues do border "significant"...

Voting "Where Silence Has Lease" as well. It starts great with a weird mystery, goes out of its way to say that nothing like it happened before - just in case anyone was a fan of TOS's "The Immunity Syndrome", and the scene where Wesley is removed and later returned for zero reason does the episode zero favors, odd but true. Maybe have Nagilum torture Wes as an example than to go all Armus so fast. That said, it's got a few terrific scenes, but of the list below, it's on the shallow end of the pool. Even "Fistful" is more consistent in-episode.

I am crushed that "Darmok" was the first to go. Surprised, too... I thought it would survive at least a few rounds.

Voting for "A Fistful of Datas". Same reasons as before.

Done. "Where No One Has Gone Before" is history.

Next vote is for "The Pegasus". I think it overrated.

From what's left, I'll go for "Conspiracy." The plot was decent, but I could have done without the exploding head. That was a bit much for TNG.

I am not a Bluegill infiltrator. Im voting for Peak Performance for completely non-Iconian agenda reasons and you can't prove otherwise.

Phantasms, too weird for me, I'm rarely a fan of dream sequences in media and this is no exception.

"Chain Of Command" again. Too sadistic. I don't need a full episode of torture.
