we know quite factually that the transporter doesn't "kill" anything,
No, we don't.

So, you only watched half of it.Not when you know what's going to happen. Not when you've seen the same stale, predictable, cliched plotting a million times before.
Pike and Co's genetic programming fails, their identities are revealed, and they have to rescue Number One AND get out with their lives.
You do see the irony of posting this in a thread about a potential Picard movie?SNW is a step backwards.
It's backwards-looking. It's too dependent upon nostalgia ("Pike! Kirk! Spock! Uhura! The Gorn!")
I'm willing to let the Millennials and Gen Z have their TV.
What may be repetitive and cliche-ridden to me (after having seen it a million times) may be white-knuckle thrilling to them given that they may be seeing it for the first time.
Are those my only options? What may be repetitive and cliche-ridden to me (after having seen it a million times) may be white-knuckle thrilling to them given that they may be seeing it for the first time.
So...get off your lawn?Actual conversation on Twitter:
Poster (I'm assuming they're young): "What if ... We could download someone's brain into a computer?"
Me (thinking): They did that back in the 1980's. It was called Max Headroom (I have the DVD set!)
Are those my only options?
So...get off your lawn?
Yes - again, someone's not paying attention.Whipper snappers like me and @Serveaux![]()
- It could be none of that and just feature Picard in it. I mean it's possible the cadets in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy watch something with Picard in it.
What if this is the grapes he wants to enjoy?Except it's movie night it's the first X-Men film they are watching.
Seriously though how many 'one final mission's' is this guy going to go on? Just let him enjoy his grapes.
It's starting to get as bad as TOS novels in the 90s which kept manufacturing one final mission for the characters set after TUC but before the opening scenes in Generations. Then Shatner's novels had Kirk, Spock. McCoy and eventually Scotty having adventures in the 24th century.Seriously though how many 'one final mission's' is this guy going to go on?
People like their adventures. Why not? It's starting to get as bad as TOS novels in the 90s which kept manufacturing one final mission for the characters set after TUC but before the opening scenes in Generations. If we didn't have S3 of Picard, I would probably be all about a Picard movie. But... S3 was basically perfect stem to stern, so i'm happy to let it end there.
Now just give me Legacy. It's all I want. I don't care about anything else.
