Now-former Disney CEO Bob Chapek renewed She-Hulk for S2. When current CEO Bob Iger came aboard, the renewal was cancelled and the show was cut back to one season.

In all fairness, She-Hulk was absolutely abysmal and that was a great call by Iger.
It's hard to say what the future of Trek looks like here, although I would almost certainly say it's "less". I don't see new budget-cuty Paramount doing 2-3 concurrent shows with movies/mini-series sprinkled in.
I do think the Star Trek IP is still one of their largest so I can't imagine they just abandon it, but I think it gets scaled down.
I truly think they need to try to migrate Trek away from the "prestige TV" format, give them a budget and basically say "it is what it is" and work with it. Don't hire "visionary" or "experimental" directors... hire someone who can turn a script into film as efficiently as possible. Run this all... *gasp* like a business.
Star Trek can absolutely be done with less budget than it has been in the streaming era. Only needs to look at something like "The Expanse" to see that sci-fi can be done without insane budgets.

who I think holds the record: Data I dies in Nemesis, Data II in PIC S1, and Data III when Lore absorbs him at the end of PIC S3 —the absorption of Data’s memories changing Lore into Data IV.
There is a facet of Star Trek that is incredibly interesting, clearly exists, yet is never really addressed directly... by even the 22nd century, there is clearly a deeper understanding of what consciousness is than what we have currently. Such an understand would be absolutely critical for transporter technology... we know quite factually that the transporter doesn't "kill" anything, it moves things, including the consciousness of the person.

Star Trek is the reason 40% of Paramount+ subscribers signed up in the first place.
It is a draw. It is a known draw that the Three Amigos in the CEO office would be wise to capitalize on.

They need to find a way make Star Trek, but make Star Trek with much less of a budget. It's definitely possible

Giamatti's role sounds like it could easily only be meant for 1 season which could mean season 1 is front loaded for a potentially cheaper 2nd and beyond if they want to go that route. (Just speculation on my part, haven't read a script, but based on how these things tend to go) And by all accounts, he's a fan anyways. So we don't know what any of the behind the scenes negotiations are as we've seen some actors just wanting to be part of something not asking for the top dollar they'd be expected otherwise.
Ask fresh off her Oscar win Whoopi Goldberg who begged to be on TNG, for example.
