Hes been around enough to make a large impact on pike. We didnt need to see kirk this early on. They could jave brought his character in at the end of pikes career as the captain of the enterprise and left it at that. We didnt have a character like that in TOS or TNG.

Those are people that served on the enterprise. They are shoe horning Kirk in. Hes got an assignment already. We all know that Kirk was the first captain character in star trek so that the reason but this show was supposed to be about pike and his crew. Yet they feel the need to keep bringing Kirk back. I wanted to see pike and his crew. But this show is slowly morphing into kirk and his crew. Scotty looks like hes going to be a crewmember as well this season.

What? Don't they turn over the entire crew of a ship when a new CO comes aboard? From the lowest janitor to the department heads. All shown the door!

its always looked to me like the TNG cast was ready to be done in S6 and was mostly running on fumes in S7. They were sprinting towards Generations.

7 seasons of 26 is a lot different than 5 of 10.

They have stories they want to tell in this setting, and it's not all about servicing the expectations of fans. That's just one factor to consider.

That's leaping to conclusions, and, in the absence of information, a lazy assignation of motivation to someone we don't know.

People don't just change their appearance or style or lose weight or anything else because of "peer pressure," or insecurity, or vanity or any other single reason.

Parenthetically, it's observably true that, since the introduction of Ozempic and similiar medications, an awful lot of people in the public eye seem to have decided that body positivity or not they want to be thinner. If that's what she's doing - maybe it is, maybe it's not - she's not an outlier.
