You know, seeing The Enterprise-E kinda made me mad. Not mad at Lower Decks, but at Picard season 3. Seeing her reminded me that while she was never my favourite, she was still a good ship, a good design and worthy of the name Enterprise. Lower Decks at least managed to show her a little reverence. Picard made her the butt of a joke, all so they should show off an ugly design from Star Trek Online.

Still shaking my head at that decision.

Why cater to 100% of the fanbase when you can cater to just 1%? ;)

But if it was the E in PIC instead, it would have been the EVIL ship shooting up our heroes. Not really a fitting end for her.

I don’t recall the Enterprise-F shooting at the Titan.

His intent was that it was up to interpretation. Being that the official policy is still that it's all the same timeline, with oodles of evidence to back it up, nothing has changed.

The problem with this, though, is that despite his intent that it was up to interpretation, people will still be accused of being wrong if they interpret it any differently than "DSC takes place in the prime universe."

While he says it's up to interpretation, the official policy still remains in place. People can make up whatever head canon they'd like, but officially, there is only one answer.

As I write this, I feel a sadness knowing that this will be the last new episode of LOWER DECKS I talk about. What's sadder is that of all the shows in the current era, this is the one that had the most potential to get to 100 episodes. More, really.

I will start by saying I'm actually glad there were no big cameos or guests here... that was all done last week. The finale was focused entirely on the Cerritos crew, which is at it should be. And everyone shined here.

Captain Freeman: except for not picking up on the fake transmission of the orders, she came off very well here. Her absolute faith and trust in Mariner and Boimler were very key in saving the day. I'm glad she got the job at Starbase 80 to help run the missions into the rift. Her skill at making sure she learns and spends time with all her crew will serve her well here... now that I think about it, I wonder if that could have been a foreshadowing of her assignment here. Making sure you know the details of all your crew would be essential knowledge when your primary mission will be to visit alternate universes.

Ransom: he has definitely grown a lot on the show. His initiative in hiding Malor was not only ingenious but unexpected. I think he earned his promotion. And I don't care what anyone says... 'engage the core' is BRILLIANT!

Tendi and T'Lyn: I'm not into anime, but that shot of them as 'science besties' was hilarious. I do wish Tendi didn't have another round of rivalry though, particularly since it was resolved already, so that is a negative about the episode and I ding the episode for that.

Rutherford: he had more to do here than many episodes this season, so his falling out of love with the ship felt like it came out of nowhere. So I have ding the episode for that. But I do love that he decided to ditch the implants and live without it. And while I do wish it was simply a friendship, it makes sense that he does have romantic feelings for Tendi since the implants would have curtailed the strength of his feelings for her.

Boimler: I'm glad he finally gave up that padd, and he finally realized he didn't need it. He piloted the ship really, really well during combat. All on his own. He truly 'grew the beard' here.

Mariner: another character who grew tremendously since the pilot. I really loved her voiceover monologue as we see various crewmembers of the Cerritos. That was fantastic.

However, I do not like her and Boimler being 'acting XOs'. I thought it was stupid when Tilly was made one on DISCO, and I feel the same here. So I have to ding the episode for that.

It was a lot of fun seeing the various Starfleet ship classes the Cerritos turned into. And while it may seem ludicrous, there IS precedent for a ship being altered while the crew are unaffected, thanks to one of my favorite episodes of TNG season 7... "Masks".

And seeing the various Klingon ships, too. We even got the barge of the dead! (Literally, too, since that ship changing killed their crew.)

It was also a joy to see the proto-Klingons like from TNG's "Genesis", another season 7 favorite of mine.

I know seeing the DISCO Klingons can imply DISCO takes place in another universe, and while there is some merit to that idea, other evidence (unfortunately) shows it is the same as the prime universe. Now, whether their trip to the 32nd century is another universe CAN be debated, since STAR TREK '09 set that precedent.

As I mentioned before, seeing the Enterprise-E here makes me wonder if this is how she was lost under Worf's command... a mission in another universe.

This entire series was a great ride... and the finale was also a great ride. We had humor, heart, and lessons learned throughout the series, as well as here.

And despite the dings I mentioned against this episode, I give this one a 9. (Honestly, if either the 'acting XOs' or final Tendi rivalry were taken out and Rutherford's story been shown in bits through the season, this would have been a 10.)

And I have to say this... LOWER DECKS was a consistently good series from start to finish. Even the weakest episodes never went below a 5 for me. I am truly, very truly going to miss this show. I am sad we only got 50 episodes, but as someone pointed out to me the other day... take joy in the fact we GOT 50 episodes. So I'm going to do exactly that.

My heart will be chanting 'LOWER DECKS' like I was with the gang.

Cerritos strong, everyone.

Personally, I think everything about CBSTrek is open to interpretation. But that's just me.
And that's your prerogative.

I personally follow the official stance. I feel that every series and film, even the ones I'm not terribly fond of, do have their part to play in making the Prime Timeline an interesting and generally cohesive storyline.

I think every single episode of every single series takes place in its own distinct alternate reality. Sometimes, the story will even skip realities during commercial breaks.
