How big was the Enterprise?

Koloth isn't talking about the capabilities of his ship when he says that. He does an hour-glass shape with his hands when he speaks those words and the luxuries he is referring to are women.
IOW, that's 60s innuendo for they've been in space for five months and they be horny.

A lot of the original material either is outright lost, recorded over, and i believe at one point there was a fire that destroyed some of the archives, but a good portion of the original tapes for Dr Who are lost outside of time travel shennanagins.

Plus they did that documentery/dramatization about early Who production. Always good to have classic era Who effects on hand given how often time travel is involved. Never know when recreating old shots will be nessicary.

I wasn't talking about the missing episodes from the Hartnell/Troughton era. I was talking about the VFX from the Sylvester McCoy era.

Bingo. Example. EC Henry's take on the klingon ship from friday's child.

Look at how good that looks.

No offense, but I don't think it looks good at all. Or, to put it another way, it looks just fine if you're trying to make a TOS-style version of the STIII Klingon BoP, which Jefferies would not have done. This is just another example of trying to make TOS look like future Trek productions, when that influence should not have been part of the process.

Upon further reading, yes, it was "rediscovered" not that long ago.

It was authenticated as the 33 inch model from TOS. It is currently in Roddenberry's possession. Maybe he'll be a better guardian of the model.

The finders backed out of the agreement, and sued Heritage Auctions for violating fiduciary duty (allegedly being biased in favor of Roddenberry). Final owner ship of the model is pending the resolution of the lawsuit. Everyone have been tight lipped about it, but I'm pretty sure Heritage still has physical possession.

This is a valid point when designing a ship. 'How often are the crewman going to be in those quarters? Will they be expected to basically only need a bunk and a place to keep a few personal things and clothes, or will they have a need for time away from the communal spaces?
I'm not certain if someone already mentioned it, but we do see crew members using bunks in The Undiscovered Country, indicating a mix of accommodations depending on (I'm guessing) rank, so the top officers get private rooms, while the rest do not? Well, unless you're a featured ensign such as Garrovick in TOS's "Obsession".

We see those same bunks in VOY’s Flashback.

Yeah, we don’t see that onscreen very clearly, although that is what David Gerrold intended when he wrote it.

OTOH it’s debunked next season when we see Kang’s wife Mara who is his ship’s science officer. So Kang wasn’t “roughing it” that much. Unless Kang enjoyed a certain status that allowed him that “luxury.”

I didn't remember the hand gesture. I was wondering why I was so certain he meant women. I thought I was having a Roddenberry moment there.

Ensign Garrovick's quarters were shown to have a bed (in the office half of the standard quarters stage set-up) and the set-up of the connecting other half of the quarters not seen. That other half could have another bed in it for his roommate who was on duty or hiding in the rec room at the time.

Mara isn't the only female Klingon on Kang's ship. Viewer's left in the back:

So, yeah, invalidated later on but still what was intended.

One could rationalize Koloth’s ship didn’t warrant having women aboard. He and his first officer were dicks.
We never saw Koloth's ship in the original version, even though it was described by Uhura as a " battlecruiser", it may have been a small one with minimal crew and no Klingon females.

I know in RPG source materials and other beta cannon that klingon cruisers oft had compliments of ground forces kept on ice and thawed when ground assault was called for as way of essentially cramming as many warm bodies onto a problem as possible without half the ship being used for provisions.

Yeah, but that's creating something never hinted at in the episode. TOS's crew quarters were always seen as units for individuals, not roommates, including The Big Three, Scotty, Uhura, Garrovick, Khan, McGivers, Karidian and other various guests.

I disagree, the fact that they went to the trouble of putting a bed in the office space means the quarters are not intended to be the same as standard officer quarters. Either it's only one room, or Garrovick's bed can't go on the other side, and the most likely reason is that there is another bed in the way.
