News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

I know that but what I am saying is with all of this going on I was wondering how it all factors into the big picture in terms of their long term plans. I know they will have some plans for Trek but it seems or seemed like with all the stuff happening they might have put a hold on Trek stuff until they get things figured out. They could in theory create some shows that would be cheaper to make for a year or so and then come back to Trek with a whole new approach with new people running the franchise. People who would be more in aligned with their goals as opposed to the people who were running things in the last.

The big picture is they need product. Star Trek is one of their tentpoles. Also Skydance has a history with Trek and Kurtzman.

Rumor mill time! They seem to be filming in the Waterloo region of Ontario, with most signs pointing to them using the Balsillie School of International Affairs as a filming location.

Some are also saying that the Perimeter Institute is also being used.

These are both unconfirmed, but I think both locations would make excellent Star Trek locations.

I get that part. But Star Trek is lot more expensive to greenlight than say reality tv. They also cancelled Discovery,Lower Decks,Prodigy and changed the Section 31 show from a tv show from a movie. So it seems like they did make some changes to there ideas for Trek. Back when they were talking about having one Trek show on all season long. Then their is the fact that it seems like Tilly isn't going to be a regular.

I do think it's possible that that it was going to be cancelled but then they altered their approach to doing the show. Tilly was out and Holly Hunter was in as the new lead. Then they brought in Picardo and Giamatti. Which if true makes me wonder what changed approach they might be taking. Using respected big name actors though I do think is a better sales approach than making it feel like a spin-off from Discovery.

I know I am personally more interested in the show right now than I use to be due to casting despite the fact that Discovery has failed to make this time period all that interesting so far.

The reality is the market has changed, and multiple streamers are cutting way back on their production side. CBS/Paramount may be up for sale but they still need to produce content in order to demonstrate viability. Sitting for a year waiting for the regulators to analyze the merger isn't going to make anyone any money.

There will always be changes from the page to the screen. TOS didn't star the cast from "The Cage". Sets and models were changed. Costumes were changed. Voyager had to replace its lead after filming. Availability altered SEC31's path. They weren't going to do it with out Yeoh. DISCO and LDS got five seasons. Which is pretty good for a streamer. Not everything will be Walking Dead.

Reality changes plans. COVID, strikes and the burst bubble meant reevaluating.
I'm betting that was Wiseman's call.

Like I said, projects go through all sorts of changes in preproduction and in early production. None of this is out of the ordinary.

I can guarantee I'll be watching at least the first episode.

I'm betting a top score is already a lock for several posters.

I watched. There was space. And nacelles. And ill-fitting uniforms. Also, a character I recognize was referenced. 11/10!

I'm expecting either:
"WTF, the Doctor didn't make any mention to the backup EMH from Living Witness at all? I'm deducting five points for that alone."
Or
"OMG, OMG, that scene with both the Doctor and the back up EMH from Living Witness made me cry! That moment was twenty-eight years in the making and was everything I could have ever hoped for." *Posts That Image from South Park of Randy Marsh at a computer.*
