"Welcome to the finger-skullfucked club, Paradox. She didn't wash her hands." [verbatim...stupid internet couldn't get me the exact quote]

This film is exactly as hysterical, absurd, irreverent, excessively raunchy, ridiculous, and incredibly fun as I expected it to be.

I've seen some people say adjust your expectations but the film is precisely what I had hoped for, complete with some genuine surprises (although I still wish the last trailer hadn't spoiled Dafne Keen's return).

I was genuinely shocked to see Chris Evans appear in the Void but I quickly figured out he had to be playing Johnny Storm. He clearly had as much fun reprising the role as much I enjoyed watching him, right down to his deliberately sharp contrast to Steve Rogers. I did hope we would also get to see Michael B. Jordan's Johnny but I guess that was too much to ask for!

I was also quite surprised to see Wesley Snipes return as Blade. Unfortunately, that didn't have nearly as much of an impact for as it would for others since I've never seen his films, but it was still fun to watch nonetheless. Jennifer Garner's return had long since been spoiled but it was still cool to see her back. Sadly, someone on this board spoiled me on Channing Tatum's appearance as Gambit (if only by unshielded inference) but I enjoyed his silly inclusion (even that deliberately dumb outfit). Of course, the best returnee was Laura and I was grateful she was more than just a glorified cameo, but I still wish she had just a bit more to work with. I continue to lament we never got Manfold's proposed sequel focused on her. Maybe some day...

But most importantly and above all else, the film provided poignant stories for not just Deadpool, but also this version of Wolverine, I loved the journey Wade went on to save his friends and proving once and for all, against his own desires, truly became a hero. My heart broke that he and Vanessa broke up, even if it ultimately made sense, but I'm glad they were able to reunite by the end.

While we didn't get much more that a simple but full picture of this flawed Wolverine, I still greatly enjoyed seeing him begrudgingly conquer his demons. Even though we pretty much knew going in that he wouldn't be "our" Wolverine, I still loved how this film honored his conclusion in Logan. Yes, even with the opening sequence's blasphemies, which felt precisely within Deadpool's own bizarre sense of honor.

Even though role isn't particularly beefy, I reveled in in Emma Corrin's wonderfully nasty performance as Cassandra Nova. She's not at the same caliber as Jackman and Reynolds but she was just as fun to watch, especially when she probed, excuse me, finger-fucked each character for their memories and weaknesses. The CGI might have been a little wonky but it was just enough to creep the hell out of me. I call that a win. I only hope we get to see a different variant of Cassandra once the X-Men films get going.

Lastly, the post-credits scene is easily the best, most-earned, chef's kiss of all post-credits scenes in the MCU, nay, superhero film history. Hearing Mr. Language spew off all of those obscenities was absolutely pitch perfect.

Easily the best Deadpool (with the caveat of that being a low bar for me).

Edited to add:

People, how many young kids (let's say under 10) were there who saw the movie? When I saw it, definitely quite a few. I know it's rated 'R' in America, but here it was considered suitable for all ages...
Yeah...I was surprised that there were bunch of kids at my showing, too. At least one kid under six.

Oh man, go and treat yourself, the first two are amazing. The third is generally viewed as a disappointment (FWIW, I personally like it more than most people seem to) but it at least has the bonus of Ryan doing his shtick and he gets one amazing line that was referenced in D&W.

Yeah, I've been meaning to watch them for a long time but I just never seem to make the time. I already knew the third one is less regarded but I've always figured that after I've already done the first two, the completist in me would watch it anyways...unless I really didn't like the first two.

But seriously… why was Thor crying?

Was it Chris Hemsworth or Liam?

I am basically completely onboard with @The Nth Doctor . This was exactly what I wanted. Like the previous movie, it's not really about plot here. It's mostly just there to have something for all the amazing shenanigans, action, one-liners, messed up dialogue and cameo's that are perfect.
I need a Gambit movie now and felt that Channing Tatum really delivered here in terms of comedy.
Wesley Snipes was great to see again, especially his little quip about there only being one Blade.  Marvel really didn't hold back on the self-critique here, on the whole. Oh, and the little banter between Deadpool and Blade was especially fun considering Ryan Reynolds shared the screen with Wesley Snipes in Blade 3.

Most of the cameo's just worked, and I suppose the one that was perhaps the funniest was of course one particular Wolverine that I won't spoil here. Suffice to say, hurray for that one.

Right now, I just really need a list of all the references made during Wade's search for Wolverine (I assume a lot of Wolverine comics I won't know about), and all the little tidbits we could see scattered through out the Void. Some stuff I recognized, others I wasn't sure about.

All in all, a great addition to the MCU. Storywise, it didn't at much. But as pure, insane and over the top entertainment, it was great!! Perfect? No. Certainly not the best MCU movie. But absolutely great though!

You have:

Comic accurate Wolverine
Age of Apocalypse Wolverine
Wolverine’s alter ego, Patch
Old Man Logan
Crucified Wolverine from Uncanny X-Men #251 cover art.
Wolverine’s debut (fighting the Hulk)
And finally, “Super” Wolverine.

The way it was presented, without actual lines from Wolverine, I somehow figured the crucified Wolverine was cover art. It had that vibe.

Well, for a Gutless Fanservice movie it was enjoyable. But really, take away the blood and sex jokes this would be middling. It's really more a "proper farewell" for all the non-MCU Movies like Fox Daredevil and Blade. Of course the FoX-Men get screwed again because even Deadpool knows that only Logan got the focus that meant anything there.

I do find it hilarious how this movie had flat villains and yet I'm sure that won't be a complaint from the usual crowd.

There were a couple of meta jokes that I really liked.

There was Blade telling Deadpool that he didn't like him and Deadpool replying, "yeah, you never have" or words to the effect. That had to be a reference to Ryan Reynolds' first Marvel character, Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity, where both Blade and King and Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes had a reportedly very contentious working relationship.

What's funny about the video below, which didn't age well at all, is that it was probably made after the two of them actually had worked together again on Deadpool and Wolverine.

Whatever issues the two of them may have had in the past, they have clearly worked past them. Reynolds made a point of introducing Snipes as "My friend, Mr Wesley Snipes" at Comic-Con.

The other joke I liked was Gambit mentioning that he thinks he was born in the void, which had to be a reference to his movie that never got out of development hell.

Still not gutless.

Bringing back Jackman, gutless. Bringing back Laura, gutless. Bringing in Channing Tatum, gutless.

This is really just "Any and every last fan theory made real instead of real writing".

And yet there are folks saying things like "This is what Dr Strange 2 should have been, getting all those old Fox characters together"

There was nothing gutless about it. There were guts everywhere!!!

But seriously though, let's just end this useless gutless debate. It's been done to death by a few people in the other DP/W topic and everyone was bored. Hell, they even joked about it in the movie itself. They knew people would be petty about it so they made fun of it. That should tell you something about how useless the topic is.
