An eeeeeevil wizard.
Considering Yoda had daily meetings with Palpatine for years, I question his skills in detecting lies. One question though - would Yoda be able to sense Venestra's lies and deceptions or wouldn't he check actively because he blindly believes a fellow Jedi Master and couldn't imagine them being so deceitful.
Agreed. That or he's straight up closed minded to the idea that he could be fooled and is arrogant there. Entirely possible for people to get that impression. Unless it comes out otherwise, I'm going to just head canon it away that he was well meaning but misguided when it came to judging and trusting people.Considering Yoda had daily meetings with Palpatine for years, I question his skills in detecting lies.
I agree. I think it shows what people were questioning, but not always confident in saying. The trend is to treat the Jedi as superheroes, but the PT and even ROTJ established them as flawed, and capable of being duplicitous or wrong. That was fairly enjoyable. The fight choreography was good. I was glad to see a Senator questioning the Jedi Order. I'm interested to see what they come up with for season 2.
Could be part of the isolation impact. They grow up together, cloistered and can trust their fellow Jedi, an aspect the Coven exploited against them. So, perhaps they are unskilled in the ways of the wider galaxy, lacking true wisdom of evil intent.Agreed. During the time of the prequels, I used to think that Jedi had blue or green lightsabers because they used natural crystals and Sith always had red lightsabers because they used synthetic ones.Interesting concept - I always thought Sith crystals were artificially manufactured, rather than naturally turned...

Yellow lightsabers will never be canon to me. Hate 'em.IIRC, in the very beginning, there was only blue and red. Then, in ROTJ, when they started doing the VFX for Luke on Jabba's sail barge against the blue sky, you couldn't see his lightsaber blade, so Lucas decided to add green to the mix. Then there was ONLY red, blue and green. Then came the PT with Mace Windu who wanted his blade to be Bad Muthafucka Purple, to which Lucas acquiesced and added purple to the mix (to which was added an interesting backstory of how a young Windu came about acquiring a purple "Hurrikaine" crystal in the "Star Wars Tales" comic and later - I believe - in the animated "Clone Wars" in 2003). Then came the other colors post-Lucas, like the yellow of the Jedi Sentinels and Rey, the white of Ahsoka's new twin blades, the orange of Skoll and Hati's blades, and so on.
Personally I like the different colors. YMMV.
I honestly don't remember how much Venestra knows about The Stranger. I certainly think it would be a terrible mistake if Yoda was sitting on knowledge of the Sith for all this time and I can't imagine they'll go in that direction.True - we never really get to see what V told Yoda. Just "we need to talk", Yoda's ear-reaction and cut. It could be he's the only other one who knows what really happened from start to finish. If Yoda had gotten involved sooner, however, I suspect that some of this mess might not have gone down the way it did. More arrogance on the part of V and the other middle-management of the Order.
She definitely knows him well.I honestly don't remember how much Venestra knows about The Stranger. I certainly think it would be a terrible mistake if Yoda was sitting on knowledge of the Sith for all this time and I can't imagine they'll go in that direction.
How do you know she'd be lying to him....?
It's amazing how many people forget that one of the very first things we learn about the Jedi, is that one of them turned to evil and murdered all the rest of them. Lucas never intended them to be flawless paragons; they've always just been people. Powerful, highly skilled and well trained people trying to live up to the ideal of a paragon of peace and justice, but people all the same.I agree. I think it shows what people were questioning, but not always confident in saying. Well, in the very-very-VERY beginning (literally the rough draft) they were all going to be red.Well, in the very-very beginning, the lightsabers were all going to be white.
The stuff about different colors from different crystals, and the red ones being synthetic instead of natural, was all from the old EU, and it was pretty early in the new canon that they started building the idea that only kyber can be used to make a lightsaber, and that kyber crystals had a will of their own, they choose their wielders, and matched themselves to their personalities in terms of color, and that they could even resist being used in a way counter to the Force, hence the red color coming from the crystals being dominated so they'd submit to being held by someone dedicated to the dark side.
Sol was a nobody to the Senate. I don't think they really cared who it was, as long as she said the situation was taken care of. She just didn't want to mention Mae and Osha to them....I don't but she was willing to destroy the reputation of a good if flawed Jedi and hid the fact that there have been unnecessary deaths due to Jedi action from the Senate. Somehow i don't get the feeling she is willing to come clean, i believe she consults with Yoda about her former Padawan turned Dark Side Jedi if not something completely else.
Her coming clean would also run counter to the whole vibe of Acolyte when it comes to Jedi, i.e. they are arrogant bullies convinced they are the good guys and everybody should just do what they're told because they are so wise.
