Putting aside how impossibly bad writing that is given the Federation would have recovered Breen bodies and captured Breen prisoners during the Dominion War.
Maybe they have "Self Disintegration" devices to prevent their bodies from being captured by the enemy? The Breen knew they were going on a "Suicide Mission" when it came to attacking StarFleet HQ. They might've been prepared for the worst.

It's been long proven that the basic Federation Medical tech that can cure simple things like stab wounds works irrespective of how well known a species biology is. (TNG, DS9, and VOY all showed us this.)
Maybe their biology is genuinely different enough from most of the other species that it wouldn't work?

It's only when you get into stuff that has weird effects or cellular disruption abilities that a species biology actually starts to matter.
Maybe their cellular structure is completely different than most Bi-PaB's (Bi-{Pedal & Brachial}) we see in the show?

It's interesting they have "blood fueds"? The Breen don't have traditional blood.

Either their jello body has something that doubles as both tissue and blood or they're using the colloquial Federation Standard term to describe placing a bounty. Both are fine to me.

I assume like the Romulans they carry self destruction devices.

A thrilling and tightly paced, albeit fairly predictable run against time. The moment the cards were laid on the table and we learned that Ruhn needed the bloodline to support his bid for the throne, L'ak's fate was sealed, as was the conclusion that Moll would set the universe on fire if she couldn't be together with him, or would destroy everything if it meant getting him back. Still, the episode proved quite adept at portraying the anxiety and tensions, making me feel like a war could indeed break out at any moment, and even the comic relief scene of Reno providing the crucial clue for the metal card ended up being interrupted by Ruhn arriving earlier than expected. I was so much on my toes that I even thought it entirely possible that the Primarch would casually mention that his rival Tahal was dead all along. Needless to say, the Federation had two choices, both of them bad, so I have to agree with T'Rina's logic that buying time is still the less bad one.

We learned quite a bit about Rayner today, with the story of his family being killed by the Breen providing some great context to his personality and worldview, although he initially seemed to be thrust in a similar role as General Ndoye was in Season 4, as a contrarian seemingly solely for the sake of being a contrarian. I did like however that he ended up showing a degree of introspection, admitting that his harrowing experiences influence his thinking, and helped out with the negotiations anyway, with his history with Tahal being used to build up the illusion that the Federation had been in contact with her.

And we're going to the Badlands, people, yaaaay! And not just the Badlands, as Book's vision seemed to impart the word 'eternity' as well, so we might even be visiting a certain wormhole in the vicinity as well?

Edited for my brain fart with the other primarch's name

So, I also just watched it.
The episode might have ton of issues regarding plot, logic, pacing.

But it was thoroughly entertaining throughout.

Mostly by virtue of shit actually happening. This one didn't feel like a filler episode of catching artifact number x. The stakes felt generally high, there was some real tension there, some minor character revelations, the new Breen look and feel pretty cool and alien.

Was it great? Nah. Was it watchable? Absolutely! And sometimes that's all it needs to be.

Average episode for me. Some things I liked:
1) Love the design of the Breen juggernaut ship.
2) Like the Breen in general.
3) It's always nice to have Reno around.
4) A nice return to A/B plot structure.
5) I really enjoy Moll and L'ak.

And on the down side:
1) Five ships to defend Fed HQ / Starfleet Academy?
2) As Oresident, doesn't T'Rina have actual Vulcan matters to attend to? Why is the President of Vulcan the go-to Fed ambassador? I thought that was Saru's job.
3) Speaking of, another episode with no Saru. And one where he would have been a perfect fit, too (Imagine him being the one to translate the Breen insult, for instance).
4) Why does Burnham keep calling it the ISS? It makes no sense.
5) It feels more and more each episode like Tilly is just there to convince us all to watch Starfleet Academy.
6) L'ak being resurrected by the Progenitor tech is so telegraphed at this point, I'm almost hoping it doesn't happen just to surprise us. Whatever pathos there was to his death is completely undercut by the magic life-restoring progenitor tech.

My biggest issue? It's becoming predictable. I was surprised, for instance, that they killed Lak until I was reminded about the magic resurrection machine. But no. Everything is now following a fairly predictable pattern, which is a disappointment. I hope they throw out some genuine surprises over these last few episodes.

4) Why does Burnham keep calling it the ISS? It makes no sense.
Sure it does if there is another ship called Enterprise. So, I don't see the issue. Makes sense to me.

Yes, because that's what the producers have learned. Surprises are not desired.

What a sad state of affairs that reflects.
Maybe?

I think that more reflects the uncertainty of current day and age and the desire for predictable and safe, rather than unpredictable and uncomfortable. People want their comfort food viewing, for good or for ill.

After two bad episodes in a role Iike that we got another episode. Shame that is clear now that Doug Jones is another actor who didn't really comes back this season because he should have been in this one. Still I enjoyed the politics going on in the episode and they didn't completely undermine Rayner as a character by just making him a unreasonable bigot. Something this show would have likely done in past seasons.

8 ships total including the HQ itself.
