It was the ISS Enterprise because they wanted to have a scene where Burnham talked about her foster-brother. That's what the scene is really about. It wasn't about the ISS Enterprise. It was about Burnham thinking of her brother. Let's not pretend that wasn't what it was meant to be about.

Plus, I'm agreeing with other people who say they're going to give that ship a 32nd Century makeover... and finally answer the question anyone who's a Trekkie has been wondering (secretly or otherwise): What letter are they up to now? Anyone who says they're not even remotely curious about that is lying. It's going to come up eventually.

That's some interesting time-travel stuff going on since the airdate for "Die Trying" (DSC), when we first saw the Voyager-J, was 11/12/20.

The Vidiians were one of the possible species tossed around to be the bad guys this season.

That breen station is actually a starship. Sake ship you can just barely make out in the previous episode

Though I prefer the TMP Enterprise over both and I'd hope that Terry would have it so the ISS Enterprise was refitted just like the USS Enterprise. He's an '80s kid like us, and I think he was speaking through Jack Crusher when Jack said the Refit/A (same difference) was his favorite. Wait, no. I just thought about that and it wouldn't work, if Spock takes over directly after "Mirror, Mirror". Nevermind.

Weren't they a "gimmick" race that was defined solely by their plague that forced them to harvest organs, and a throwaway line in a later episode revealed that the Seinfeld actor's Think Tank had cured them? In which case 32nd century Vidiians wouldn't really be any different from any other Trek alien as their defining charasteric for fans had long since been resolved 800 years before Discovery.

In which case 32nd century Vidiians wouldn't really be any different from any other Trek alien as their defining charasteric for fans had long since been resolved 800 years before Discovery.

The Vidiians were a great creation because not only did they look fantastic, but they had a built-in moral dilemma just by their existence.

And there is no proof the phage was cured... Kurros from the Think Tank may very well have been lying to get Janeway interested and give legitimacy to them. Considering they already knew about Seven and likely hacked their database ahead of time, using 'I cured the impossible' is a way to make them look good.

The Vidiians were at least 35,000 light years behind them... nothing we saw of the Think Tank indicated they had the ability to travel that far, especially after Kurros said they 'recently' found the cure.

Besides, even if the phage was cured... they are surrounded by ALL the species they harvested for decades. It would be interesting to see what happened afterward. Did they try to help other races as a way toward redemption? Did they fall under constant attack for revenge after all those years of being victims of organ harvesting? Something else?

Voyager had several very good races--the Krenim, Species 4872, Hirogen among them. I felt that was one of the show's strong suits, probably better than any other iteration in that specific regard.

And the Vidiians were among the most technologically advanced races in that region, so not sure how the other races might have dealt with them for 800 years. Probably easier to avoid Vidiians than get into a fight with their ships.

Regarding that travel technology in PRODIGY, keep in mind we still haven't seen or even heard about the Vidiians. It's very possible the Vidiians just aren't interested in going so far away from (their) known space. Might even have been forced to stay within only a few systems for defensive purposes.

And I don't think the Think Tank had that travel technology, which is a good reason why they didn't offer it.

I really like the four nacelled variant. I think both would look better with a neck but one that is a bit shorter than the standard constitution.

I never said they would still be bad guys if the phage was cured. I said there are some interesting aftermath story ideas after all the organ harvesting they did on others.
