A time bug. Seriously? I liked the callback to the Krenim (and it would make sense that THEY would be involved in a Temporal War... I'd wager they may very well have started it), but this was pretty ludicrous.

I loved seeing Airiam again! Really miss her.

I love that Rayner was a big focus here. I do like how he saw the good side of being familiar with the crew. And I like that he seemed to mellow slightly. (And he loves the Constitution class, too. Good man.)

What I don't like is HOW. He was essentially clubbed over the head with the lesson in the 'share the feelings in the middle of an emergency' aspect of DISCO. Four minutes to get things done, and Stamets has to go into a 'woe is me for my genius' meltdown, and Rayner doesn't just order him to get started and tell Rayner what else he needs? They could have had that conversation while ACTUALLY working on what they needed to do. It's situations like this that bring the show down so much, honestly. That isn't being a professional and getting the job done. Imagine a firefighter having a meltdown like this in the middle of a blaze, or an E.R. doctor having a meltdown in the middle of a room full of patients brought in from some disaster. Those kinds of situations get people killed. There's a time and place for those meltdowns, and it's AFTER the situation is taken care of. It really gives the impression that these aren't seasoned, experienced, relatively high ranking Starfleet officers. It's amateurish and a little childish.

Watching Stamets do an impression of himself from earlier in the series reminded me of what we have been missing. I feel like he's been defanged TOO much.

This episode is VERY MUCH like "SHATTERED" from VOY, which was a fun episode. Which this one was also fun. But these emotional meltdowns and sharing of feelings with a ticking clock has become WAY too tiresome... it's like the writers have a full time shrink on staff and each script has to be run by them before it gets filmed. It really bogs down the show a lot. DISCO is going to DISCO, I guess.

Performances were great, and the focus on Rayner was awesome. But the shrink sessions just take me out of the episode, and I am so damn sick of time travel being used. (Even in a setting where time travel is outlawed, they STILL have to find some way to travel in time.) This is definitely better than last week's, but like last week, the weight of the few bad things outdoes the amount of good things about this one. I'll give it a 7.

So VOY: "Shattered" meets DIS's own "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" then... can't help but feel it thinks it's a more impactful episode than it was, but maybe that's just because I'm not a fan of Discovery in general and early Discovery in particular. It was fine, just a bit obvious in places, and essentially self-indulgent filler.

Yep, and throw in some ENT "Twilight" based on the future scene.

Definitely one of the better Discovery episodes. Somewhere on the edge of 8/10 and 9/10

yeah the heart to hearts would be way less annoying if they happened while people were actively working or running or whatever. Burnham could have had her unconscious chat while dragging her counterpart out of the corridor for example.

A great episode, maybe they best one they've ever done. As already mentioned here, it is reminiscent of VOY "Shattered", but I'm also reminded of VOY "Relativity", what with a temporal weapon being used. Of course, this time it was an organic creature meant to slow the ship down and not some weird future bomb meant to destroy. Good look at how the series has changed over time. Great moments with Burnham and Staments. It was also nice to see Raynor get some character development as well. I think TPTB goofed cancelling this show now. 10/10

9/10. I tend to enjoy these kind of episodes. It was nice to see Airiam again. More guest stars from previous seasons would have been cool, but I'm happy with what we got. I like how Burnham and Raynor's relationship developed throughout the course of the episode, and I think he'll be a better first officer going forward.

Calypso is a little tweeting bird chirping in a meadow.

this one has 2 lines below the 4 dots, and they appear 3 times on the uniform. she could easily have been an admiral :p

This 2000s trope is still bothering people, eh?

Calypso was the dream Zora was having before Burnham woke her up.
Fantasizing about Book perhaps?

I was surprised that they hinted at Calypso without going there all the way but I guess that’s actually surprisingly subtle for Discovery.

I liked a lot of the episode but man was that plot device crazy convoluted and convenient. These things are just lying around? And Mock and LOL, er Lock and Moll, are way too Sith for my liking. That said, I could roll with it for the most part though I was confused why they were concerned with the timeline changes when it was all going to reset.

Even a tiny Lorca cameo would’ve been dope or whatever the current slang is. I preferred Airiam 1.0 but I understand that.

They better pay off the Reno and Rayner drink at some point. Never thought I’d like Tig Notaro as much as I have.

I can imagine Burnham encountering Lorca and using her knowledge of him being from the mirror universe to manipulate him. That would have been cool.

Seeing a sexy bearded Spock again would have been great as well.

The only thing I disliked about this episode was Moll and L'ak. They are so goofy in their attempts to be cool. Look how evil they are as they have a romantic talk while someone's choking to death next to them! Yawn.
