Why would anyone want that? Isn't that akin to living off a dead corpse? Creepy.Isn't the point - at least, in part - to create a continuation that doesn't feel updated?

Some things in the past are better though it depends on who's judging them.To feed the belief that the past is still superior to the present.
Oh, I agree. I think there is always a mixed bag when looking at the past but the trend, especially with Trek, is to attempt to latch on to the "groundbreaking" nature of TOS while ignoring all the other contextual factors that allowed it to be so. SNW is fantastic, and even has some good commentary in some episodes. Some things in the past are better though it depends on who's judging them.
Most things are better now but still highly imprefect.
So on a sliding scale of betterness or at least appropriateness to 2024, I'd give something like SNW high marks. It's not as groundbreaking as TOS but it could be a better show.

Well, this is an awkward way to find out you're a zombie...Um... this is the TrekBBS. We're all living off of a dead corpse to one extent or another.

A security blanket for adults? You want to drive ‘a 66 Mustang to new places. You want to have new experiences in the house you lived in in 1966. You want to see new episodes of a show you watched in 1966.
Are you trying to relive your past? Probably. But the illusion of a perpetual past is mollifying when living in an uncertain future, so there is that, too.

McCoy is generalizing so of course there would be exceptions. Some jobs I might not be.
Factory spec or resto-mod? Because I sure as heck not driving around listening to just AM radio. Or parking that puppy anywhere without a security system and wheel locks. Of course, having GPS and a backup camera would be nice too...drive ‘a 66 Mustang

There is also the electrification option.
Anybody weeping over these job loses?McCoy is generalizing so of course there would be exceptions.
That must be the one I saw spun out this morning in the snow and being towed away.
