Spoilers Canon, Continuity, and Pike's Accident

As @Tallguy mentioned before, some interaction between the TNG Klingons and the augmented ones (and/or the Disco Klingons, if they decide to replace or add them to the original version).

Since the DSC Klingons... unfortunately exist now, I would like to see some show up around here and there, just to be like "Yeah... they're a thing".

I'm sure I CAN come up with some cockamamey explanation for them. I just usually try to purge the memory of Discovery from my head.

It could be interesting to re-do Operation Annihilate and make it more of a Sam and Jim story.
Yeah, now that we've gotten to know Sam a little, that could be really good.

I'd like to see if someone could make The Alternative Factor into a good episode. The premise is interesting and the ending *should* be heart wrenching.

Good call. And the ending IS heart wrenching even in its current nearly unwatchable state.

It shouldn't be that hard. Just, you know, WRITE it. And don't have your star quit the day before you film.

Errand of Mercy would be interesting cause we could see the events that led up to the one day war.
Of course it would all turn out to be the Federation's fault and Kor would be the true hero.

My take would be that the Klingons were up to some really vile stuff and the Organian peace treaty allowed them to continue whatever subjugation and enslavement that they were up to before the war.

Doubt that, because beside of Kruge's actions in SFS we didn't see or hear about any klingon conquests or open hostilities against other planets after "Errand of Mercy" (in canon, in the litverse we did).

Well, there was every subsequent appearance of the Klingons barring Day of the Dove. Including the planned poisoning and starvation meant for Sherman's Planet.

But I'm talking about the planets that Kirk described in Errand of Mercy. We never hear of them again. There is no indication that the Klingons give them back to the native populations.

We also don't know if the Organian peace extends to the Klingon's other neighbors. Assuming they have any on their non-Federation borders.

Inbreeding amongst the great houses.

I've concocted a whole thing about the augment virus. The tl;dr version is that the Klingons found a "cure", except they did it Klingon style and it was like, brute force genetics. The "cure" went opposite... it basically made them hyper-exaggerated Klingon.

By the 2250's, an actual cure was making its way through the Empire and by the 2270's, both the Klingorcs and smooth heads Klingons are mostly reverted back.

Works too.

The attempted cures for the virus are all the rationale I need.

Maybe the Talosians was manipulating Spock? Maybe he was hearing/seeing things that we didn't see on screen. Or Uhura too? Hell, we don't know if any of the scenes we saw at Starbase 12 wasn't being manipulated by the Talosians, like Mendez not having been on the Enterprise the whole time...

One of the problems of the transition from The Cage (The Menagerie as originally written) to The Menagerie two parter is that it takes the Talosians from super powerful telepaths to GODLIKE POWERFUL telepaths capable of manipulating minds over light years of space.

I don't care. The Cage just was a pilot. Look at other pilots for a variety of shows. They are often inconsistent and/or certain characters, etc change a lot.

I mean, Sheldon was flirty the TBBT pilot....So was Grissom in the early episodes of CSI :cardie:

Yes. The wrapper story is a hastily assembled kludge that falls apart in important respects on few moments examination. It solved a production problem but is senseless.

Memorable, though.

Thought more about stately supported hostilities against other planets and ships than cold war like sabotage, spy missions, propaganda and stuff that the klingon government can deny any responsibility for.

Hardly. I always took it as Spock and Pike had a connection allowing them to communicate and amplify their abilities. In the Cage the Talosians lured the Enterprise by faking a distress call so it doesn't seem inconsistent.

That's right, that was at range of 18 light-years as stated in dialog, in literally the very first scene.

Yeah, agreed. Does it really make any sense that visiting Talos IV is the one remaining death penalty offense on Starfleet's books? Not really, but it sure makes for a dramatic conflict for the episode!

Well, there's something I've never though of. Was the distress signal legitimate, sent by the Talosians, or an illusion by the Talosians? It seems that the first two possibilities could only be the case at all for the first message, since it would have to have been sent out 18 years ahead of time. The second message was definitely faked, since there was no group of survivors after the crash, and it almost certainly has to be an illusion after realizing Pike didn't take the bait and needed more encouragement, since it seems unlikely the Talosians would realize Vina was half of the solution to all their problems within a few hours of the crash.
