Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

Hm, somehow I feel that sweptback pylons might work bette with the overall line of the shuttle. Other than that I think you're on the right track here!

Something like this?

Smoothing groups are going to be fun!

More soon :-)

No, I mean have the lower part angle backwards. It is now angled forward. If that makes sense....

I get you, let me have a look... Will need to build a new pylon as it angles, but that's no problemo...

Curious as to the result. I will say, with the windows now blocked in, the pylons work better for me than they did before. But it could still evoke more of a sense of speed and agility to it.

I know it was based on the Type-9 (perhaps this is the Type-9a, in the LD fashion??) but I get real 'Alice' vibes from the shape and design of the fore, while the top-view gives it a Jem'Hadar feel, with the 'tail' structure on the aft.
Looking forward to seeing how this design continues to evolve!

Thank you, it's an evolving thing at the moment - I may redo the hull again, still not happy with the shape of it. It's close...

Yes, this is something that evolved from the Type 9, maybe a Type 9E. Not sure what number the TNG era is up to with shuttle types. This one may be exclusive to the Delphis Class because of the nacelles

However...

My physical backup drive has failed. Been playing up all day, hence the slow down in replying. Sourcing a new one, but things may be on hold until I get that sorted (should be tomorrow at some point). Have other backups, so everything is safe - it's just the one I carry around in my pocket that's crapped up :-) Looking at various options at the mo, just need to check with the other half if I can spend the money!

More soon :-)

Shuttles should resemble their parent craft…
Star Trek has a history of not doing that. It's a case of what ever can be built as a live action set is used. The TNG Type 7 shuttle was impossible to build (then) as an external set, so we got the simple type 15 shuttlepod. The Type 6 shuttle only happened because of the new shuttle exterior built for TFF. The Type 8 and 9 introduced in VOY were variations on a theme, as was the type 10 seen in a single episode of DS9. The shuttle pod introduced for the Defiant was more akin to something required by a smaller ship (which the Delphis is not). So going with a generic body shape is not breaking anything, IMOO

And now we have shuttles. Cool. :mallory::techman:
Indeed!

More later

Updates - breaking for an appointment, so here's the state of play this morning -

Not much has changed, other than the shuttle has been scaled to fit with people (Bob, Sue, Mike and Rita return!), giving it a total length of 11 meters. Banners, egress hatch and a little rebalancing and then the interior. On track to finish this today :-)

And then... Production renders.

More this afternoon.
