One from the other half (see, I do let other people play with the meshes sometimes...) -
Sovereign Inspired! I can see where they are looking to go with this idea, and how to refine it... But... it's lacking something. Meh, it might grow on me.
Ok, going to leave the deflectors alone whilst I cogitate on what to do going forward and jump to the next logical item on the list -
- Finish the mesh proper, rooms, shuttle bay, spot lights. <DONE
- Work on navigational deflector ideas. <IN PROGRESS
- Self lighting rig.
- Look at adding an executive/plugin shuttle for the dorsal surface - OR - additional detail on upper bay.
- New shuttle type.
- MSD style cutaway of the Horizon.
- Dedication plaque for the Horizon.
Item
4 - why skip 3? Because the lighting rig is dependant on which style of Nav Deflector I go with. So I will come back to that.
So...
The best way to fill; this space. 3 options -
- Executive Shuttle of some kind.
- Extra Sensor Pallets.
- Leave it alone.
Options 1 & 2 are the preferred way forward.
> Option 1: to fit a plugin shuttle I would need to move the shield grid. I keep iterative saves, so it is
possible to wind the clock back to before I built the grid in on that section and change it up. My hind-brain has come up with some interesting designs, including something that is reminiscent of the flying sub from the
Seaview, from
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. In terms of how it would all fit together with the location of the upper warp core, it could be wiggled in and the core pushed back a little further.
> Option 2: adding extra sensor pallets, either side would also work and tie in with the rest of the design. This would increase the number of exposed pallets on the dorsal surface from three to five, which is maybe not such a bad idea. No additional work would be needed in changing the shield grid on that part of the ship, the pallets could be tailored to fit the existing space.
Sigh
I need to stop my other half looking over my shoulder when I type these messages - as they have pointed out, why can't I do both? Yes they are right. But for Spock's Sake, I would like to finish this one, and not turn it into a never ending project. Excuse me whilst I bite there head off...
Ok, so
anyways I'm going to break for lunch and play around with both options and see which works better. Maybe doing both is the way forward.
More later.
