I just happened to watch a couple of Frasier episodes this evening. One where Frasier, Niles and Martin are stuck on a lake, ice fishing. The other episode had Frasier 'talking down' his agent from a ledge as part of an unhinged salary negotiation. Both were side-splittingly funny even after all this time.
That trailer had none of the sparkle, it just left me cold. I think you're right
@wayoung , the performances are broad. The dialogue is really broad too, totally the opposite of the sharpness seen in the early Frasier episodes.
Obviously there was a tonal shift between Cheers and Frasier, but they both worked well on their own terms. I would be fine if the tone shifts again, if they did something interesting and funny. On the basis of this trailer though, it just seems generic and tacky.
