Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

Ambassador, Galaxy, Sovereign etc are all fine as-is. Excelsior's scale has always been bonkers from the start and in terrible need of revising anyway, independent of any Constitution considerations. It's well known that it should be larger than the given number.

I really like how the 442m Enterprise scales with the NX-01. It always felt weird to me that their saucers were practically the same diameter. The design/details of the NX makes it feel smaller than the Connie to me. Now their saucers line up with that impression.

In general Starfleet in TOS and even until DS9 was seemingly pretty small. Of course the fleet scales with the plot
I don't get this argument.

Space is big, really really really big.

It makes sense that you only saw large fleets in DS9 and Discovery season 1. You are not going to see large concentrations of ships unless you are in a full scale war. In times of peace the fleet will be spread out on all sorts of mundane duties. You will only bring them together if SHTF.

Plus its been established since the original movies that star fleet has a large reserve/ mothball fleet. Those ships will just be parked in some orbit until a emergency.

Did anyone else notice that the uppermost row of display lights on the bridge consoles - which have all been shades of red throughout this show - are now various TOS display colors (green, yellow, blue as well as a little red). I think that they used these colors when the SNW Enterprise first showed up on DSC. In any case it's another nice callback to the TOS Enterprise.

Yeah, I noticed it. And yes, it was originally that way on STD. They used that older color scheme for those and for the over-station graphic displays, for Kirk's alternate-timeline Enterprise in ""Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow"" as well.

I'm glad to see the red/green/yellow scheme back permanently.

Oh, I can't believe that I missed the change in "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" - thanks for pointing that out.

My problem with rescaling the SNWProse is that all the other ships should be proportially scaled up.
Hi Ronald! I'm doing new youtube interviews with everyone who appeared on the old Beyond Vaudeville show and would love to interview you via zoom! You can reach me at richbrown323 at gee mail :)

422m..... this is getting comical

When I made my reimagined Connie, I spent some time trying to work out the correct size of the ship based on the ceiling height of the hallways in TOS and the number of decks on the blueprints. My Connie ended up being almost exactly the same size as the Discoprise, despite being as conservative as possible, despite wanting it to be as close to the official size of the TOS Connie as possible. The TOS Connie simply isn't 289 meters long.

Nope, she certainly isn't.

When even Doug Drexler, a man who I'm pretty sure is a TOS purist, and thinks of Trek as being a "period peice," and probably hates the Discoprise and everything it stands for, couldn't get his Constitution class cutaway to be under 400m......

I think it's safe to say 289m doesn't work.
