For a 2005 TV series airing on UPN this wasn't bad, but it also wasn't all that great.

I went for an 8 - good solid finale in the classic ST cliffhanger tradition, nothing particularly groundbreaking but really fun to watch and generally well done. One of the best episodes this season for me (alongside episode 2 and the LD crossover)

I'm still not convinced by The Gorn has credible baddies - it bends canon just that little bit too much, particularly because to me the execution isn't really worthy of doing that to just create a generic monster baddie with no redeeming features (and yes, rip-off the Xenomorphs). I have no issue with canon-bending - but the result has to be worth doing it. At the moment, using the gorn as this kind of general evil monster threat isn't worth doing it for. Hopefully S3 does something a little more inspired with them, as there are some interesting hints creeping in in regards to how they function as a society, the hierarchy etc that I hope they explore a little more.

The bridge fight sequence with Spock/Christine/Gorny though was really fun and well executed (though I'm not clear why a lone adult Gorn was sent to wander the saucer section randomly to access the computer with no back-up/equipment etc). The cliffhanger (Shock! Crew left in peril!) worked well for me, if again not exactly groundbreaking stuff.

Personally I enjoyed S1 more than S2 overall - I can't quite place my finger on why that is though, as essentially it was more of the same. Maybe that is the exact reason why... it is very difficult to articulate but I just found something a bit lacking overall compared to last season.

I love the effects but I'd take a few hits on VFX to have another 3 episodes a season :D
Anyway, gave it a solid 10 but i feel like taking off a point for the cliffhanger. C'mon man!
IF S3 is fully written, AND they can go back to filming by October they should finish shooting S3 by next June, which means that S3 won't air until May 2025.
That's a long wait to resolve a cliffhanger; in Best of Both Worlds it was only like 3 months.

I predict Batel is toast, allowing her to live after finding out she got infected would just feel like a letdown.

And love the introduction to Scotty! He's adorable!

I edited the M-A gorn page to remove the mention of surviving in a vacuum since that was never mentioned in ENT.

There was this line in part 1

T'POL: Primary systems are offline, including life support. We're reading thirteen biosigns, all alien. One of them appears to be reptilian. They're clustered in this section.

But that could easily mean they brought their own life support devices.

For some reason I take the Gorn's appearing in ENT only a little more seriously than Urban McCoy's mention of them. Weird, huh?

I was actually pleased to see the Gorn needed and used a space suit. It simultaneously made them more sophisticated (finally) and less all powerful. I was somewhat surprised to see it.

I always found it interesting when people talk about life support being off, there's this idea that it instantly becomes deadly to be in those areas, when life support shutting down just means there will be no new support given in that area. What oxygen and heat remains will still be there for a while. A ship the size of the Enterprise would have oxygen and heat for hours before there would be any real danger.

Also that.
