You could watch on a 1960's era B&W TV, then you wouldn't see the aztecingShould not have any Aztecing.
It's the lighting. She's not not nearly as dark as she looks. Anytime she's in a brighter environment, you can really see the grey in her colour as opposed to the overly metallic look you get from the darker shots. You know, as much as I like the SNW Enterprise, I think the aztecing is a bit too dark and heavy, Giving it a more subtle TMP-like finish would make it look much more advanced. However that might be the entire point, to make the ship look more primitive. They could be laying the groundwork for the much lighter Kirk-Era look, even if they don't go all the way to the TOS design.
Yeah, I think because they don’t have to photograph a model with blown out exposures the true color is probably getting a little lost. It's the lighting. She's not not nearly as dark as she looks. Even in a couple of those newer pics, you can see she's alot closer to the TOS colours then you think.

FTFY. (Yes the FJ Tech manual has the torp launchers on the top of the saucer, but on TV during TOS they clearlt fired from the underside of the saucer - and in the pre-remastered version too.)I do like that John Eaves kept the phasers and torpedo launchersneartowhere they fired on TOS.
That always bugged me as a kid that Joseph got that wrong. Plus, it's such a weird mistake to make since the torpedoes obviously never emanated from the top of the saucer, even making the three circular features on the front of the saucer torpedo tubes would have been better.FTFY.
