It is clear to me now that the Trek Universe is a multiverse and STD (They should have considered the initials before naming the show), and SNW are in another multiverse. It's just easier in my head canon to think of it that way.

I love the more the show ties itself to previous continuity, the more some fans try to say its disconnected.

true! Mirrorverse, Prime and Kelvin makes three Universes, ergo the terminus Multiverse is warranted oh no, your one of those nope, those are still Prime

So you think that it's the same universe even though the timeline changed, so that everything in that universe is different from itself now past a point of divergence.

Sneaky.

Pike makes mention of the crewmembers wearing subdermal universal translators for the away mission- I think that is the sort of thing most people (starfleet or not) would wear all the time- if not subdermally, than as a clothing item. If you could say there was a single, universally useful 'borg' implant that a human could have, that would be it. Imagine going anywhere and not having a language barrier?

It's one of those things that generally doesn't get addressed on Trek, but it's in my head-canon. Like the Last Starfighter, the characters all speak their native language or whichever one they are most comfortable with, and hear it back, but we (the audience) hear English.
in the prodigy season finale we saw that when the universal translator is turned off fleetwide chaos ensues as all the alien species can no longer communicate, apparently standard isn’t standard at all.

I really enjoyed this one. In a way, it's the episode I've been waiting for from the season: a fresh take on a familar high-concept story similar to "Children of the Comet."

I appreciate that the shipboard story left me grinning, while the planetside story had interesting world-building and a poignant thematic core. I found this a touching study of living with memory loss. It resonated.

And it was nice to have a modest character arc for Ortegas. Give Melissa Navia more to do, show!

Also, castles on Star Trek! The matte painting of Rigel VII used in the original series is one of my oldest and fondest Star Trek images. (If I could have a good print of that painting, I'd jump at the chance.) To see it reimagined here with a beautiful alpine rosiness was a delight.

A 9 for me.

I was not Ortegas' biggest fan in season 1. I've warmed to her this season and thought she was fine here.

I'd say overall they've eased up on the quip.

Well, OK. To each his or her or whatever pronouns own.
Well when you speak fluent sarcasm as I do people snarking back is expected.

They did.

Then people like you found ways to twist the name for your own pathetic amusement.

Name me another Star Trek show where the ST is included in the abbreviation?
I seem to recall being told (back when I was knee deep in the Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate) that Star Trek was designed for intelligent, thoughtful, introspective people and Star Wars was for children who liked flashing lights.

Jokes on us, I guess.
I love the more the show ties itself to previous continuity, the more some fans try to say its disconnected.
It's so interesting because people say they want more connective tissue yet when it happens there are claims of a different universe.

Can't win for losing at this point.

Also in DSC Season 2, when they encounter the sphere it knocks the internal translators offline. No one can understand each other except Saru, who spoke like 40 languages.
