Anyone else think Spock's idea to flee into the asteroid belt would only make things worse and instead her should have gone for empty space?

Isn't that the logic? When in a situation you go where you came from (you know what is there) not too where you haven't been (you don't know what's there.)

Spock should've been smarter than that.
By that point it could have already been affecting him. Remember, one of the first symptoms is tinnitus, but also fear, and even a logical Vulcan overwhelmed by fear may not take the most logical actions other than "get away from the source and hide behind these things that might block it."

In other words, I've enjoyed each episode this season. I don't think any of them are like episodes I place as high as Darmok or Best of Both Worlds or whatever, but they're fine episodes that I've personally rated 8 and I could watch them again if I was feeling lazy and just wanted something familiar .
I think Ad Astra per Aspera is one of those episodes. While this season has been hit or miss for me, I'd put that episode up against any of the previous shows' greatest hits.

Meanwhile I have no desire to revisit any individual episode of Picard, let alone any of the three 10-episode arcs in their entirety.

That's the downside of the serialized format. With SNW I can pop in any episode from any time and be able to follow along. Also, if I didn't care for an episode, I know that next week's episode will be something different. I do that with the older shows quite a bit. With Picard I feel like I have to start from the beginning to understand what's going on, because each episode builds on the last one and it's one storyline for the whole season. So if you don't care for the storyline, well, you're SOL until next season. And the only season storyline I care to revisit is the third one.

If the arcs were like...better...they wouldn't feel like such a slog. Some other shows can do arcs pretty well but in Trek they just seem undercooked and overdone at the same time, if that makes sense. Honestly now that I'm thinking of it it's very few shows of any genre that can do arcs well...I think the current trend needs to change. PIC would've been better as a movie or 2. Didn't need 26 dreary hours and a few better ones.
In the immediate context of science fiction, something mixed like Orville works well. Or season 6 of DS9 where it wove in and out of the Dominion War.

A full on arc where every episode is an essential chapter of a longer novel? Yeah, as much as I love B5, I'm sure there were some stinkers in season 3 and 4.

I could follow the logic of the the asteroids providing cover from whatever is affecting the ship. I guess you could also say he was potentially compromised at that point when he made that decision.

If you can mix episodic with serialized elements were shit matters then ok. Otherwise, serialized is my preference for SF. That way it doesn't feel so disposable.

Pike has no future with Patel unless he expects her to stick around when he's in that chair with a melted face, and if she does stay, then Spock is not taking his Captain back to Tallis IV to frollick with Melissa George, unless Patel dies.

Pike is a murderer?

I'm kinda going with the assumption for now, that the future that Pike envisioned, is not going to go exactly the same way as previously seen and it won't be through anything he himself has done to change it.

The ENTERPRISE Temporal Cold War and it's after effects are probably going to be blamed.

Perhaps there is only just so much that the future DTI can correct.
All the TOS episodes will still take place with the same eventual outcomes, but with the look of SNW.

The monks said that the future is unavoidable as soon as he took the time crystal. Alt Future Pike in the Motion Picture uniform said that seriously bad shit happens if he tries to cheat fate.

Chair.

Beep beep boop beep.

Inevitable.

They essentially inferred that Pike could not change his future.

They didn't say anything about Other's complicating the outcomes.

Even Daniels said that the timeline is not immutable.

Haha, a "miss" for me still rates as 7 or 8.
I gave this one a 9, but I think its more of an 8

Daniels is a fool.

He sent the 29th century to the dark ages, because he did not know how time travel works. He thought he did, but he was wrong. Foolishly wrong.
