Am I wrong in saying that Generations is the only TNG movie to LOOK like a movie?

I just had a thought: Brian Thompson's Klingon in GEN isn't Klag, is it? Aren't the forehead ridges different?

Klag would definitely not turn evil and join the Duras sisters, I know that much...

It doesn’t look like a movie though, it was directed by David Carson. Who was a very good Director for next generation, he tried really hard but he was unable to capture the ensemble feel of the cast, which is what made the series work well… focusing on Picard and Soren and Guinan, Who had not been in a next generation episodes since suspicions.

as a matter of fact, next generation did not transfer to feature film very well, because it was an ensemble cast. in order for ensemble, cast to work properly, next generation had a great format to explore with 26 episodes per season. Shows these days do not get that much, so it is more difficult. The original series translated to feature film well because it was a much smaller ensemble cast and we could focus on individuals.

Jonathan Frakes, on the other hand, got the hang of it instantly in the two movies that he made especially first contact, but he really gave us a cinematic experience with insurrection. I like that movie more now than I did originally. But Jonathan knew how to get the ensemble included so we didn’t have a film about Picard, we had a film that included Picard, but also had everybody else.

I thought both Generations and First Contact were pretty much both, nicely, ensembles, though with Worf, Riker, Beverly a little underused in the first, then Insurrection felt the most way too much nearly just Picard and Data, there were some scenes of other characters and even a few good scenes with others but most of the scenes of others felt really flat rather than meaningful particularly Worf got shortchanged.
