Trekker long before that. Absorbed TOS in 3rd to 6th Grades. Saw ST:TMP on the day it was released in Boulder Colorado: at a theater where every seat was filled, and every person in every seat gave the movie a standing ovation at the end. It’s the best and only way to see the film, if you have never seen Star Trek The Motion Picture in a movie theater make sure you do it, and if possible, the final Robert Wise cut. Otherwise try to find the original theatrical release, and has a lot more things in it than were ever released on VHS, Laserdisc, or DVD. Only now, 44 years later, they have a directors cut on BR that includes a lot of those shots that they took out of the film after the original theatrical release.

I was always happy with the TOS films of the 1980s, I saw most of them in the theater, except for Search for Spock. I saw Wrath of Khan up in San Francisco as a double feature with Forbidden Planet.

And although I thought Next Generation had some issues in the first season, by the time season two rolled around, I was hopelessly addicted. And then DS9 happened, and then Voyager happened. And Then?

I was not as enthused over Enterprise, I did not feel it was what people wanted to see, especially after the massive endings of Deep Space Nine and Voyager. But only after watching it years after the fact, I did start loving the third season Xindi arc. But ending the show with a pseudo Next Gen ep was a huge mistake and a kick to the groin of not only every fan, but also the actors who worked so hard on that show. And I never thought Tripp could have been coldcocked so easily by Alien gangbangers on his own ship! And to top it off, they could have, and should have, created a new Sim for Tripp after that.

Kelvin timeline? It is a great alternate look at what could have happened. I love all three movies, especially Beyond and Sophia Boutella’s alien-girl. RIP Anton Yelchin, Who was not only a great Chekov but also channeled Kyle Reese very well in Terminator: Salvation.

But then, Discovery — and I love the Displacement-Activated Mycelial Network Spore Hub Drive. This show has caused a lot of controversy, but it is pure Star Trek from start to finish, every piece of it.

Prodigy, Lower Decks, PICARD, Strange New Worlds!

And I welcome the return of 7-of-9 to the Star Trek universe.

It is a SUCH a great time to be a Trekker!
