It looked to be around late fall in the episode, judging by the dusting of snow on the ground in some shots. Let's say early November. Assuming the Leafs were outta town and there were no big concerts or shows. You could get a suite for a pretty good price, if you waited till the last minute to book.

they were filming in Mid March

things I loved:
1.Spock's musical endeavors being the cause of a noise complaint.
2.Pelia's Department of Archeology being a shitty shop with a handpainted scrawl of a sign on the door.
3.The kids drawings on the wall, the kid's handwriting of the name Khan. The way La'an handled the child Khan with such resigned compassion. She can't even tell him to be a good person when he grows up.
4. The classic Kirk love story happening in a matter of hours as was so often the case in the context of TOS (and many other shows of the period).
5. The character growth of the character of La'an.
6. When they first step out of the changing rooms in the same outfit.
7. My surprise when UFO chaser was revealed to be a Romulan agent (until it was stated I assumed a counter time agent of human variety).
8. That the thing supposed to happen in the 1990s got messed up and she'd been waiting for 30 years to kill another version of Khan.
9. Sam still being alive and well in La'an's reality maybe being the reason Jim Kirk was willing to sacrifice himself.
10. I love time travel stories.

Let me throw a look back:
Pike brought a new fuel in this show, why now there are debates how to use this fuel economly for anything else and reject or decrease to minimum the presence of Pike himself?

This was, ouch, 2019. The explanations why there must be less Pike began much before the SNW announcement.
What are you going on about?
He's in episodes less so Mount could spend time with his new kid.

finally saw it, gave it a 6. would have been a 9, plot wise, but had to lower it, because I still don't get Kirk vibes from this Kirk, which is a shame. Good actor, I hope he gets there sooner rather than later

Just to be clear, I was thrilled to see the crew of Discovery all wearing sensible shoes instead of the women in high heels and the men in things good for running (and yes, in TOS everyone wore heels, but Beatle boots are different. They just are.)
I'll take your word for it.
Well, that time travel ban sure didn't last long.
More's the pity that SNW felt that this well needed to be dipped in to again. Apparently tried and true is the new motto.

Spock's musical endeavors being the cause of a noise complaint.
This episode was so awesome I forgot about that.

Why are people (including show making people) assuming that First Contact changed "the" timeline but that none of the other time travel shenanigans did? (I'm leaving out episodes like Assignment Earth where the All Knowing Guest Star says "It's all good, bro.")

Well, that time travel ban sure didn't last long.

Time is relative.

Plus, they had to work around Anson Mount. What's a quick, cheap way to do that? Time travel another character to modern day. Plus they get to stop the Eugenics war complaints and have an excuse for other canon changes as they like.

La'an: James, do you think we could, uh...

Kirk: ...

Carol Marcus: Excuse me Ms. Augment, please respect boundaries when talking to my man! Frankly, I don't even know why Starfleet lets a descendant of an augment dictator serve but whatever. And just in case you get any ideas about even so much as looking at Jim twice, I'll let you know my dad is Admiral Alexander Marcus, the head of Section 31 and he can wipe your existence from the galaxy to the point that in a few years, no one will ever mention you again, much less remember you.

Kirk: Erm, sorry La'an, don't mind my girlfriend, she can be a bit needy and overbearing at times.

La'an: You should be careful around her, she seems the vengeful type, as in the type who'd keep a kid from his father after a bad breakup.
