News Star Trek Prodigy Cancelled, Season 2 to be shopped around

Not much consolation, but 20 episode seasons means we will get 40 episodes for this show. Equivalent of Lower Deck lasting four seasons.

Sorry if this has been mentioned. In Canada, Prodigy streams on Crave. Will this " gotta purge for tax wright off" thing effect its continuing availability on Crave?

And will season 2 need to be "shopped" to Bell Canada or other Canadian outlets or will it just be added to Crave as normal?

I suspect that the deal with Bell is why Paramount is finishing S2 even though they won't air it on Paramount+, otherwise they'd just put it on hold until they found a new home. Its contractual obligations to Bell I believe. If Bell was taking down or not airing Prodigy season 2 they would have announced it already. Canada is the biggest fans of Star Trek.

To be fair, he probably didn't mean Canada is "Thee" with a capital T biggest fans. Just that they have always been enthusiastic about it. Even Discovery and Picard S1 and 2, seems to be more popular (per capita) or get more blind loyalty then in the U.S . No proof of this just a vibe Im getting from word of mouth and trending indicators.. Seems to be "less hate" directed at these shows and modern Trek in general north of the border

I admittedly don't know a lot about DVD/Blu-ray manufacturing, but my thinking is, depending on when exactly the process started, Paramount could potentially have hundreds of copies laying around. Surely it would be better to sell those instead of just locking them away or destroying them? If Paramount aren't allowed to make profit off of the series, perhaps they could give them away for free at a convention or something. Would that be allowed? Maybe they're waiting to see if anyone else will take Prodigy first.
Since they are actively trying to sell it I would imagine any printed disc's they've contracted to make would be labeled as an asset.

Considering how much tax credit support we're throwing at the various series from our side of the Canada-US border, I tend to suspect that people at the federal and provincial levels (in several provinces) in the relevant ministries are inclined to support Trek in general up here as well.

Prodigy was still up as of this morning. Maybe the whole Monday thing was too soon, and P+ did say "in the coming days". I still think it will be at the end of the week. Might still try to get a rewatch in this week since the episodes (other than the first one) are relatively short.

Americans are the most numberous fans, but TNG was the #1 show in Canada, it wasn't in the US.

Anyways turns out I was wrong, sometime in July cravetv is losing all the Star Treks except SNWs according what folks on this sight. So official the only things left worth watching on Cravetv will be SNWs as well as Corner Gas & Republic of Doyle reruns.

RIP CTV SCI/CRAVETV.

No, you just misread me. I’m talking about something different - the ability to stream it from the library of purchases. I wasn’t talking about downloads. The ability to stream already purchased content will (at least in some cases) last for years past the point it is no longer available for new sale or rental, then unpredictably vanish without warning.
yes, this is correct and it’s why I recommended above to download anything you want to keep.

t was probably through glitch rather than intentional choice, but Apple has deleted a chunk of downloaded podcasts from my device on 2 or 3 occasions.
if that happened that’s just a bug. Podcasts are not managed in iTunes, anyway, that’s a totally separate service these days.

Sorry was this sarcasm or are you serious?

It has now been taken down. It was taken down at noon eastern time.

Never mind, I've just looked on Amazon Prime and it says it's leaving Paramount+ in three days. Still available to buy on Amazon and iTunes for now, though.
Still available to purchase through Amazon Prime. 17.99 for the SD season.
Does it say that it's leaving soon? Is it still up on iTunes in the US? Because if it remains available for purchase outside of Paramount+, then it's not too bad.

OK. I suppose we'll have to see if that remains the case. The fact that Paramount are shopping it around shows that this isn't as straightforward as a simple tax write-off, so they may keep it available for purchase for now.
