News Star Trek Prodigy Cancelled, Season 2 to be shopped around

In my opinion, Prodigy was the best of P+ Trek. It is a shame. I like all the new shows, but to be honest, I would have rather seen LD cancelled. LD is a very good show, but not as good as Prodigy. Like others said the animation for Prodigy has to be more expensive than Lower Decks.
I’d take one episode of PRO over 10 episodes of LD.
And that’s not a dig at LD. It’s a compliment to PRO.
Networks (or streaming services or whatever) are notorious for this kind of fuckery and then they wonder why a piece of content doesn’t develop an audience. Kids’ shows seem particularly vulnerable to it. I am not an entertainment industry professional but so many decisions they make seem baffling and self defeating.
Besides LD likely being cheaper, it also has a clearly defined target audience, that it probably hits well enough. Prodigy may well appeal to the same audience, rather than to the children it was supposed to bring aboard.
I do think S2 is very likely to be picked up, as others said it was already sold to Bell in Canada and Netflix has both Star Trek series (internationally) and Trollhunters so there is a match for their catalogue. If not Netflix, Amazon is also known to pick up ditched SF shows and I suppose there is also Tubi, Youtube and the likes if the main players don't bite.
I order to get funding for S3, you would probably need a player like Apple with lots of cash and a desire to gain new viewers.
Honestly? I don’t want any of them canceled. I like some better than others and I have my preferences, but an advantage of the steaming model is diversity of offerings. I enjoyed having a variety of vibes, and a nice mix of new things and nostalgic things (please don’t come for me Nostalgia Police!!) and I will be sad to see this era of the franchise end.
We've gotten a boat load of content that I never thought we'd have. I'm quite satisfied even if it ends.
I hope that Kovich mentions the Protostar and the kids during Discovery's final season.
Yeah, I’m kinda split on this. I am happy we got what we got…but I also think shows like PRO deserve a little more time. DSC is fine to sunset at this point. PIC ended on a great note and was never intended to go for more than 3 seasons. But, the other shows are still running strong and have more to say I think.

It's not a matter of it ending. It's a matter of it being erased and faded into obscurity. The thing that I don't like the most of this whole thing is Prodigy is being removed and the only physical media we have so far is the first 10 episodes. I don't want to forget this series, and if I bring it up in conversation, I don't want the response to be something like "Oh, that failed series, never seen or heard of it" or something like that. Prodigy deserves to be seen and remembered.
Perhaps, now that the other series are being retired and cancelled, it's a good time to bring back Short Treks to fill some of the gaps. It would allow a variety of stories to be told and perhaps even continue the story of the series that have ended. Plus, the shorter length reduces the budget.
Those cost money too. If Paramount is trying to save money, Short Treks seems like wasteful spending.
How? Paramount Plus already said they were going to remove it. I guess just tell everyone to watch the series this weekend and do nothing else. This is a long term thing I'm more worried about, not short term.
I know. My point was, if Paramount are unwilling to pay to make full series, a few shorts here and there may satisfy fans while being cheaper.

Capitalism, if Prodigy's new home is willing to pay Paramount for additional seasons, Paramount isn't going to turn down the money.
