Or maybe just an unrelated people that happens to have the same name? Considering that they regularly use genetic engineering to adapt to whatever environment they settle in, maybe it's commonplace for different groups of Illyrians to look completely different.

One of the images Una looks up has ridges similar to the ENT illyrians, one of the artists said it was intentional.

The recent comic set between Seasons 1 and 2 has them as the same Species.
