Just noticed one detail: “mr Data set a direct course to Earth”….shouldn’t that be the conn’s job, that is La Forge in this case? Geordi seems to be piloting out of the space dock after all…Well, perhaps with the low crew things are set up a bit differently and warp systems are handled by the Ops officer…
More a case of them wanting to keep Geordi on the screen with the rest of the cast I'm sure. Tucking him away in the back corner makes that more difficult. Most likely why Beverly is standing next to Worf when she should be sitting on one of the benches up front next to Riker or Troi. Framing.

In universe Geordi just reconfigured the Conn station to be Engineering because he wanted a more comfy chair. ;)

I like the audible on-set "thunking" sounds Brent Spiner's fingers make as he lays in the course for Earth. The console beeping effects were laid over the scene but not so much you can't hear Spiner hitting the control surface of Ops.

I was also struggling to comprehend why they turned OPS to CONN. But that is a perfect explanation, the did not want Geordi facing backwards at the Engineering station.

Love the Enterprise D bridge, but the layout is terrible for TV.

My guess is this season is going to mark the ultimate end of the Borg since they're not referenced or seen in the 32nd Century in any capacity

We were all fooled by Fight Club, and then some of us were fooled by Heroes and none of us were fooled by Dexter.. and 5 minutes ago in You with %uckking Ed Speelers.

They trick you into thinking that an Imaginary friend is a flesh and blood person, who is not a flesh and blood person.

It took Jack 5 minutes to find a Borg Staging Zone in the middle almost of Federation space, dock, walk 3 miles into the guts of a cube to find his evil step mother, and get penetrated.

Imaginary friend, or bad writing?

RIKER: I've been dying to do the Riker Maneuver for thirty years!
DEANNA: Will?! That's private!
BEVERLY: I have a hypo of cordrazine standing by.
PICARD: Keep your boots off the furniture, Number One.
WORF: Chief O'Brien should be here.
GEORDI: Couldn't agree more, Worf. But I think Mr. Boimler is up to the task in Engineering.
DATA: Boimler? I have a vague memory of bubble bath solution in connection with that name...

Getting her to function and warp from A to B is one thing. But as Scotty found out in Search For Spock, getting your automation to work just as well in combat while taking damage is a little bit different.

I wonder if we will get a line to that effect, wry similar to the original, quite soon.

Maybe Data sets the course but helm actually pilots the ship there.

All those panels can be set to do whatever is needed. Sometimes Riker sets the course. It looks completely like Geordi is running engineering from the helm position, and with not much in the way of operations to worry about, Data has the actual helm.
It’s pretty much been that way since 1987.

And they had to screw it up in 2023 by doing it the same way! Bastards! :scream:

PICARD: Mr. Boimler ... For some reason, the only photos I've seen of him have him with a black box between his legs. Something about a rowdy party ... ;)

There is also the thing that Ashley Judd disowned Trek. Frakes spoke about it a few years ago at a convention.
Its a shame really because she and Wheaton were really good together.

There has to be more to it than that. Like what happened.

A COMFY CHAIR?!?!?

We are the Borg. Our weapon is surprise. Surprise and fear. Fear and surprise. Our TWO weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless assimilation. Our THREE weapons are fear, surprise, ruthless assimilation, and an almost fanatical devotion to the Collective. Ah...amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as fear, surprise, ruthless assimilation, an almost fanatical devotion to the Collective, and nice leather uniforms...We'll come in again.
