Realistically, it took 8 out of 10 episodes, since S1 & S2 were never meant to be TNG related.

That was pure Riker right there and inappropriate humor is his thing.

I also think they overdo it sometimes with Worf's verbosity. It's like they are trying to be funny and are going for the joke, instead of always letting it flow naturally. But it often works because of Michael Dorn's deadpan delivery.

Too much mystery box yet again IMO. Remember when Trek (at least sometimes) just told you who the bad guy was at the beginning and didn't rely on convoluted plot devices to manufacture suspense?

Erm… I think they were doing that in The Cage. Then it turned out there were no villains as such. Farpoint… same. Emissary… same pretty much. Caretaker… same. Broken Bow… same.
I think you realised that with your ‘at least sometimes’ in brackets.

Roll on midnight, I shouldn’t be hanging about in here getting spoilers…

What are the odds that an 80 year old Marc Alaimo could be talked into and would be willing to play Gul Dukat one last time as the harbinger of the Pah-Wraiths in PICARD Season 3...

Any resemblance at all?
Love this theory.

Another great episode. I wish Seasons 1 & 2 were this good.I loved how Data tricked Lore. I love Worf here, still not feeling Raffi.

While they are dragging the Jack's mystery out a bit, I don't think I agree with it being a mystery box. The writers clearly have an answer to these questions.

When I hear the term "mystery box" i think of examples like the Star Wars sequel trilogy, where mysteries were setup with no planning or answers. Doesn't seem to be the case here.

"I know that me is resting peacefully... but this me... this me would rather be no place else in the universe."

"All that matters is that we
are together once more... because I need you. All of you."

:wah:

Another episode of "I honestly don't care what happens for the plot because the emotional beats land perfectly every. Single. Time." Loved it.

One thing I noticed was Worf's body language in the conference room scene. He seems stiff and uncomfortable when Data enters, and doesn't get a moment with him (if you will). What's up with that?

The episode was decent. I am just annoyed by the way we went from Vadic implying that she was going to reveal who Jack was, to us ending on a cliffhanger presumably right before they reveal what is going on with Jack.

I liked getting Data back ... again. Don't kill him you fucking solids!

It's kind of a weird story at this point. They have thwarted the big bad's plan A before we even understand what it was. I am hoping we get a late episode reveal of who the big bad is next episode. I mean shit, they have no more time to drag it out and no more reasons to do it.

What was the cloaked shuttle that Worf had? Was it one of the Titan's? I was hoping it was the Defiant because why not at this point.

I'm a little worried that this is a sign that there's a lack of confidence in the reveal, that they're thinking the mystery gives them more story than actually finding out what his deal is and building on that.

"Thwart" is probably an overstatement. While Vadic didn't get Jack, they'd already pulled whatever they needed out of Picard's brain, and probably delivered it to whoever needed it for whatever they were going to do. Given the changeling security officers who came over with Ro seemed to expect Jack to want to come with them, it's possible "opening the door" will actually turn him to their side.

It was a Titan shuttle, they must've moved the cloaking device from the old Bird of Prey over when Worf and Raffi took it to try and get Riker off the Shrike, and then reinstalled the cloak after they got back.

I guess La Sarina is just sitting in a parking orbit somewhere.

I have no problem with Data being back. This is a different take on Data. And, like I've said before, Data's software. As long as a copy exists, I won't say, "fowl!" How Data defeated Lore and became "Data" is something I wouldn't have predicted. "I'm giving all of me to you, so now you're me!" I think Data saying, "That was that Data, I'm this Data!" was basically the Season 3 writers saying, "This is how we would've handled it!" Works for me. As far as I'm concerned, the Data in Season 1 was committing suicide. "Please kill me! I wish for my existence to end!" That's what should be frowned upon, not this.

Spiner should have let the season one finale been the end for him. He is the one who wanted Data to die in Nemesis. He died. It was unsatisfying. They tried to make it a little more touching in Picard season 1. Your mileage may vary on how that was accepted. But this? As touching as it might feel, this, in my opinion, it’s a cop out. If it hadn’t been 20 some years since his initial farewell. Had this been the follow up to Nemesis, I might have felt differently. But it feels like an excuse to get these seven characters, who I love, BTW, into the same room again. As a fan who grew up watching them week after week, that excites me to no end. But does it make good storytelling? Where sacrifices actually matter? I don’t think so.

WELL GUESS NOT

I can't even get excited over the red door cliffhanger, as it's functionality the same tease as Vadic's taunt last week that he'll "find out what he really is."

Them stretching the plot and mystery out like this is handicapping what had been an excellent season in the first half. It's like they don't have enough material and are just spinning the wheels.

UGH!

Worf. He talks too much now. I liked him better when he was of fewer words. I'm with Riker. "Are you here to rescue us or put us through more torture?" Worf, I'm sorry, but that all could've waited until you were back on the Titan!

I felt there was a weird romantic subtext from Worf when he was waxing poetic about seeing Troi again on the Shrike? Riker seemed annoyed by it.
