Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Calm your knickers, it wasn't a jab at you.
My "knickers" are just fine thank you.

My comment wasn't intentionally directed at you either, so perhaps you should take a bit of your own advice and don't be so quick to go on the defensive. :techman:

Or maybe just proof read what you type before hitting reply; I've literally just come from a different thread where you came across the exact same way with another user. ;)

Obviously, you may be unaware of the history of that particular user.

So for now, just know I have no animosity toward you and wasn't trying to be specifically abrupt with my post.
You just happen to be the next in line that I quoted.
My apologies if if came across that way.

We don't have to would be far more convincing if the Canadian bridge crew wasn't in every freaking episode, its starting feel very weird. Characters like Nog and Garak and Weyoun and other side characters from DS9 got more fleshed out without being in nearly everu freaking episode. It starts to feel weird, like they are featured to prominately, frequently, and in important ship rolls to be background characters or hell even side characters, but are main cast either. Its only natural folks are like, we see them every episide who the **** are these people beyond their jobs on the bridge.
Being in every episode does not make them main cast. They're literally the last ones listed in the credits under the banner "Co-Stars." The show has already done more with them than it's obligated to.

So far, for me, season 3 is one of the saddest, least interesting pieces of star trek since ENT.
After watching this episode it feels like a greatest hits album punctuated by a heavy rock and roll beat. It has way more action than I thought was appropriate in Star Trek, at least from what the Internet told me...

It's to whom.
Obviously not an SF Debris fan.

Yep. I'd like to see bridge officers have their moment in the Sun but if they don't then they're not why I tune in to watch a Star Trek series. DeSalle, Kyle and Leslie were all awesome on TOS but the fact that at best only two of them got any meaty dialogue and any character development doesn't bother me in the slightest.

There's just no time to develop half a dozen supporting characters in these limited, serialised TV shows. If DS9 were being made today we simply wouldn't have anything like the depth.

STP couldn't even find enough for Elnor or Soji to do in Season 2. In Season 3 they've basically slimmed down the regular cast to Picard, Seven, Raffi and Shaw, with guest spots from TNG vets who need no introduction.

I've not seen any complaints that we don't know anything about *checks notes* Lt Mura yet. Disco actually did a pretty good job in giving spotlights to some of the day players like Ariam, Nahn, Owo and Detmer. Even SNW got criticised for not giving Ortegas enough to do, and that show is specifically going for a more episodic formula and ensemble cast.

as much fun as a I loved seeing Michelle Forbes as Ro Laren again, It felt kinda wasted that they brought her back after 30 years just for us to see her get whacked.

It was excellent. She made peace and helped Picard. Not sure what was wasted. That episode crunched history into manageable amount for the audience while giving each characters a moment of reconciliation.
