Good. Dealing with trauma is part of the human adventure.

I do. Upset nerds who can't control content so they try to dictate canon status.

When Ziyal was arguably the weakest recurring character in a Trek series you know the producers were getting something right.

Of which they still have no control of so it’s a futile endeavor.

Good point. As usual, it comes back to power and control.

How dare these greedy corporate hacks not create content specifically for my consumption with my own exact personal preferences in mind? The nerve! I've been the most loyal Star Trek fan for decades (as demonstrated by my incessant complaining about whatever's on currently and dismissing all of it as "not Star Trek"), does that really mean nothing these days?

Fans are also customers, at the end of the day. Fan action spurred the return of Star Trek after TOS was cancelled, fan outcry arguably forced improvements to both ENT and DIS, and so on... Paramount responds to customer feedback the same as plenty other businesses do. *shrug*

Afaic there's plenty of middle ground that imo both the "gAtEkEepErs!!1" and those who staunchly defend the various series -regardless of legitimate criticism- often refuse to even consider.

That and 5 bucks will get you a bad cup of coffee.

There is a difference between responding to customer feedback and bowing down to the loudest feedback in the name of "Real Trek." it's a fine line and one I don't envy the producers walking.

I have no issues with current Trek in terms of it being produced. I don't enjoy it all and strange I just don't watch it all either.

I'm afraid you'll find that bowing to the demands of the biggest gobsh!te is a behavior of a lot of particularly-moneygrubbing corporations; in my personal experience far too many foster a culture that actively encourages it -- and in direct opposition to their supposed business ethics and workplace "values".

    But I digress.

Oh, I expect nothing less from corporations. I actually understand them better than I do fans.

I use to expect more from fans of a franchise that supposed espoused a more evolved humanity. That has quickly evaporated.

Oh, I finally gave up on that expectation altogether roughly around 2016... for reasons.

What one wishes to do with ones own 'Head Canon" is fine & dandy.

Just don't presume that it's OK to project that upon the others as if it is a fact.
