Ah yes the old 'divert power from life support' idea which is used in every other star trek episode, seen here drawn out for several hours! It's a very shallow concept; needed a more epic or clever conundrum and solution, not this tired old story. Come on! Don't know if this is laziness or stupidity on the writers' parts.
You’re watching Star Trek. What do you expect?

I thought she was a changeling, but for some reason others thought it was just her hand?? Ok.

Even if you can't make out clearly that the hand is separate from her due to the poor scenery lighting (thanks Paramount...), the dialogue itself is a very definite sign that she isn't a changeling, but rather is subservient to them.

That and the stogie she was puffing on an episode or so back lol.

Terry says she’s a changeling. Did you miss the tweet linked last page?

That’s what we’ve been talking about.

I don't believe that Vadic is a full Changeling.
There'd be no reason for her to have to cut off a part of her body to make the communication link work if she was.
She could just deposit some of her mass on the device.

Or Vadic can reproduce lungs closely enough to move air and smokes because she likes it. She also might be damaged changeling, and her morphing might be more limited now.
If that's the case, then perhaps this group being away from the Great Link for so long has been detrimental to their physical makeup.

Perhaps that's why in their fluid state they look so different from the Founders.

Except what we see is not typical Changeling behavior. Hence the continuing speculation.
I mean the showrunner says she’s a changeling, then she is one. I don’t think he would have said anything if it wasn’t true.

She’s certainly not a normal acting changeling, but she is a changeling.

Who knows. But Shaw called himself a 'grease monkey' which implies that he was an enlisted technician at Wolf 359. He could have attended the academy later and worked his way up the ranks. Wolf 359 is a long time ago from where the show is now.

Which was my original point about how old Shaw actually is. Because he doesn’t look that old.

Clearly I did miss it, as I'm not spending all my time in every single thread, every waking moment.

Furthermore, based on how that scene was written and presented, Vadic somehow being a fully fledged changeling makes little to no sense, unless maybe she's somehow been corrupted and thus stuck in solid state with a shapeshifting telecoms hand as her only link to the real changelings. Her being a less than "real" changeling could explain her handler's treatment of her, at least. Kind of... Maybe.

So you’re telling us we can’t continue speculating?

She could be fused with another changeling, or maybe that dish was a communication device that uses changeling cells

A dying changeling turned solid Odo back into a changeling in DS9. Can they all do this to any solid they want? Maybe a changeling turned Vadic, who was a solid, into a changeling. In which case Vadic is a solid with connections to Picard's past who was transformed into a changeling.

That's my thinking, and that she has been put with limitations to accomplish her mission. She's expendable.
The Great Link can also make a Changeling "solid" with humanoid organs as punishment.

And from that conversation, Vadic seems to be on a short leash.
Indeed. I imagine this mission will allow her back in to a link, or the rogue link. This hand think is her current link to the rest of the faction.
