Which pretty much the opposite of Enterprise. The characters were lacking and the decon chambers were not additive.

I updated my list and added T-Pol.

But I do see to some extent with Enterprise the issue. The characters were kind of lacking - little sexy characters with weak story lines was not the best combination compared to TNG for example where Data was considered very sexually appealing to girls and Brent Spiner actually used to get the most fan mails with was driven by a demo of women.

Hilarious even Wikipedia Page for data says Data became a sex symbol. LOL

Ironic data can be a sex smybol and also rank as one of the greatest star trek characters of all time and one of the most beloved sci-fi Androids in fiction. he is usually ranked third below C3P0 and R2D2 on many sci fi lists.

We will see if any SNW characters will stand the test of time in the coming years with characters who had it all like some TNG /TOS characters

Sex is a natural part of life. Sexual desire is a natural part of life. Sexual objectification in the context of a television program is the denial of agency to the character being framed by the camera -- the depiction of them as entities that exist to give pleasure (implicitly to cisgender heterosexual men). That is not natural and its impacts on people are deeply harmful.

That is not what the term "male gaze" refers to. The term "male gaze" is a term used in film and television critical analysis that refers to a specific way of framing and depicting female characters in a film or television show relative to the assumed interests and desires of the male audience. The experience of a man looking at a person he is sexually attracted to is not a "male gaze."

Star trek also gave birth to slash pairing, which was about the sexual objectification of kirk and spock as a romantic item.

Once again, sexual objectification is not the same thing as sex.

You can absolutely depict sexuality in a film or television program without objectifying the characters. You can get quite sexy in your show without objectifying the characters! The White Lotus is a very sexually-charged program, but its characters are not objectified -- they all have agency and are not depicted as though being sexually pleasing to men was their primary goal in life.

SNW is sexualised. I would say the sexual objectified characters are Tpring, Spock and Chapel and to a some extent Pike.

No. None of these characters are sexually objectified because none of them are depicted as lacking for agency. They are not beings who exist for others.

There are more accolades for the freshman season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, with a couple of new nominations for the series from the Critics Choice Association.

Strange New Awards
The CCA announced nominees for their third annual Critics Choice Super Awards, which is sepeate from their long-running Critics Choice Awards. The Super Awards honor “the most popular, fan-obsessed genres across both television and movies,” which includes sci-fi. This year Strange New Worlds was nominated for Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Series. It is going up against Andor, For All Mankind, House of the Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and Stranger Things.

The star of Strange New Worlds was also being recognized. Anson Mount was nominated for Best Actor in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Series or TV Movie. He also has some stiff competition, going up against Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Man Who Fell to Earth), Samuel L. Jackson (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey), Diego Luna (Andor), Adam Scott (Severance), and Matt Smith (House of the Dragon)...

I first thought it was the actual critics choice awards, but this is a lesser award. the super awards???

SNW did not get nominated for the actual critics choice that was held this year, that is the more prestigious one. Andor is getting nominated for the actual critics choice, PGA, Golden Globes and likely Emmy and with the Mandoloran coming back for season 3 things will get tight,

SNW would need to step up for season 2 in terms of quality, casting, writing and acting, however I doubt a lot will happen and i think season 2 of SNW is where we will begin to see real criticism of the show began to start, Very much like Star Trek Discovery season 1-season 2.

There are not a lot of people who put in the energy criticizing this show. It's not worth the effort. It's like critiquing an Arrowverse show.

In the meantime, Paramount is throwing more money at it.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds season 3 is in production.

Andor is better in terms of quality and artistry. that is why Andor can get Golden Globes/Emmys/WGA/PGA awards and SNW cant. SNW is CW network good.

Also critics do have better taste, this is why they chose to nominate SNW in a much lesser award that is meaningless. the real critics choice awards that usually kicks off award season did no nominate SNW in ant category but andor was nominated

Season 2 of SNW will be the real test of the show because the show will no longer be judged based on Discovery or Picard as the first season 1, especially if The Mandalorian season 3 is out around the same time, a show that is far superior to SNW and looks like it is only going to get better.

To each their own. I was 14 when Star Wars came out in 1977 and saw that original film over 200 times in the theater. I thought Andor was slow and poorly plotted, and parts were a pain to sit through. But like yours, mine is one opinion.

Of the Disney plus Star Wars series, the only one I've been enthusiastic about is The Mandalorian.

And don't get me started with the garbage that was The Book of Boba Fett.*

*- the episodes featuring The Mandalorian in The Book of Boba Fett excepted of course.

Like Star Trek, Star Wars is working to create broader appeal in different stories for different segments of the audience. I liked Andor well enough, but Mandalorian has languished in my view. Book of Boba Fett was interesting until the Mandalorian detour.

None of these are gearing for what SNW is, or what Star Wars was in 1977.
