My larger point is that if fans are willing tolerate poor outings then Season 1 of Picard is just as tolerable as ENT's poor outings, or TNG swings and misses. Yes, I know, mileage will vary and I am way to generous when it comes to accepting bad outings in my Star Trek. I'm a bad fan

Ok. I guess just for me, STP season 1 has more controversial choices in its ten episodes than all of Berman Trek between 1987 and 2005.

I think DISCOVERY is a toxic "unmitigated disaster". SNW is only half as bad. Whereas since I was a fan of 12 MONKEYS and have listened to hours and hours of behind the scenes podcasts with Terry Matalas, I was much more willing to give STP season 2 a chance, and even in it's worst moments could see how Terry was able to make some kind of positive contribution there. So I can't really comment on this one since I have a skewed perspective that doesn't neatly fit into a "side", just to say that there obviously wasn't as a win back the classic fans campaign like we're seeing here.

That's the perspective I'm looking for here.

For me controversial does not equal bad. Even with decisions I don't agree with I still appreciate the story behind it. But, I'll freely admit that I am not big in to worrying about characters or if they live or die. I am more interested in stories and dynamics and adventures that explore them in a different way. If I want legacy style content, which I do from time to time, I que up TOS, or TNG or DS9.

It would be helpful for sure to see your point of view. And I mean yours, and not whatever the fuck "legacy fan" means. I don't care what "fans" think (a nebulous prospect at best) but I am interested in what you think.

Nerdrotic on Twitter implied he'd seen something related to STP season 3, so I had his stream running this morning. He confirmed he'd seen (at least) the first episode. "Best Star Trek since Voyager" (he didn't like ENT). Praised Riker, main complaints were the cursing (shit shit shit shit) and of course the dark lighting. Said he'd give the entire season a go, and compared it to watching Disney Star Wars in that watching Mandalorian isn't akin to supporting Kathleen Kennedy.

Out of the other major YouTubers, the only one who hasn't really expressed an opinion is Anna the Star Wars girl -- she hasn't done a video or a post about it (at least what I could find in a quick search).

And of course the major major deal will be if Red Letter Media covers the season.

There is one YouTuber arguing that even if Gene Roddenberry himself wrote season 3, he wouldn't support it, because it would just be supporting Kurtzman. Whereas said YouTuber is anti-KK but does watch Mandalorian etc.

Nerdrotic is saying that Mandalorian under Kennedy should be held to the same standard as STP season 3 under Kurtzman. Which is much fairer in my view. Although Nerdrotic does acknowledge the risk that if season 3 is successful, Kurtzman might not bring Terry Matalas back and instead do the follow up himself.

Looks like his last episode of DISCOVERY as a credited writer was 401. No sign of him in season 5 so far based on the WGA credits.

RMB has implied Kurtzman probably hasn't seen PICARD season 3 all the way through. Luckily he was distracted co-writing and directing several episodes of the MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH.

Oh this is a fun one. Based on the WGA database, it's highly likely the STLD/SNW crossover will be episode 203. Might get to see that one before my P+ runs out after the STP final episode...

Which is his expected job and responsibility. The success of the show should still be to his credit for sure.

Which is odd. The only way I see that happening is if it is less successful, or if Terry becomes more busy with other work. "You'e so successful; you're fired." I mean, that's what my boss told me at our last meeting but that's not common...
