Spoilers Season 3 wild speculation

And just because one of the legacy cast bites it in PIC S3, that doesn't mean they need a resurrection to do more Trek. VA work in pre-PIC shows like LDS and Prodigy would be another option on the table.

Saw this on Twitter that was posted back in November.

An IMDB listing for one of the season 3 episodes that is no longer on the site.

Could be possible? Considering Worf seems to know about an incoming threat in the trailer and his involvement in the dominion war/knows of the founders.

IMDb has a good track record recently when it comes to Trek casting leaks.

Terry has said the Dominion War will be connected to Season 3 in some way

After watching the latest trailer…..a lot…..I think some (most?) of the TNG crew will turn on Picard. To be honest, I think Riker is a bad guy. When he says to Picard “This is the end my friend”, there is a look on his face that doesn’t seem friendly to me. There’s another point too where Riker looks over Picard’s shoulder at something, but then quickly looks at Picard as Picard is startled by whatever Riker is looking at. Gives me a vibe that Riker is actively scheming against Picard…..which ties into Beverly’s warning to not trust anyone. And since we know Riker has a transporter clone who was last in a Cardassian prison camp…..what is Thomas Riker is the big bad for the season?

This has legs. Tom Riker is back, Vadic is former Dominion War POW working with T Riker. Vadic also has some connection to the crew / Picard. T Riker and Vadic are seeking revenge for the Enterprise & Picard sitting out the Dominion War.

It's all starting to make sense except for one thing, if Will Riker is Tom Riker, couldn't Deanna sense Tom is not Will? Or...... during the series Will Riker is kidnapped by Vadic and Tom takes over fooling Picard and Tom will be killed at the end of the series. Deanna does say she senses evil on the ship. That could be Tom.

But then again, Tom doesn't know Picard that well enough but Will does since he tells Picard how long and far in the depths of space they served together or something like that before saying this is the end my friend.

A wise approach. They’re marketing their show and drumming up hype. They’re under contract to do so. The last thing they will do is say “oh by the way, my character dies, what a bummer, eh”.

I would pay more attention to Terry Matalas than the cast themselves here, they’re too professional by now to slip up. Matalas tho? He’s so excited that he just can’t seem to help himself with the spoilers. He’s let it slip on several occasions now that “not all of the characters might make it out alive”.

And, more importantly, he has explicitly said that “one or two” of those TNG cast members who have been vocal about wanting to do more Trek “might have been projecting” themselves onto the fact that Spock came back from the dead in a sequel movie after his death. What he essentially meant was “their character dies but eh I guess they know that this is Star Trek and they can always return”. He has also said that there are always ways to bring someone back in science fiction. The only (admittedly non-TNG) characters I would deem safe at this point are Seven and Raffi because Matalas said a while ago that they survive (this was when a small “no more bury your gays, ffs” controversy arose about a flippant remark he had made).

So, really, none of what the actors have been saying rules out that their character dies. It simply means that (in Sir Patrick’s words) “we left a few doors open” and that the cast would be willing to walk through those doors and return/continue in whichever way if needed.

I am 100% with you on this. Just because the actor (or Terry, for that matter) says something, it does not mean it is true.

Star Trek takes place in a world where time travel happens, where Q's exist, conciousness can be downloaded, etc. No was is really EVER gone and cannot be brought back.

However, if I had to guess.

1. Picard. Again. For reals this time.
----------
2. Troi. Just a feeling.
3. Spiner's character. Again.

Someone who claims to have seen the 6 episodes has tweeted that
Tom Riker is in it.

So it is possible that
Tom
and the female changeling were in the same prison and broke out together, and that Vadic is the changeling.
Frakes has said there's a great conflict scene like the one in Crimson Tides where Riker and Picard have very strong opposite opinions and a lot of tension.

You got a link to that tweet? Tried to find it but couldn't see anything. I know someone on here said it half-jokingly, I think.

The one thing I’ve wondered about since Frakes mentioned the conflict between Riker and Picard is……when have they been so diametrically opposed, and what could cause them to be. I can’t come up with much, but Thomas Riker being a villain (and what to do about it) would certainly fit.

Does Tom need to know Picard well enough though? He was in a Cardassian prison and the flagship never came to rescue him. Better still, his brother Will commanded the Titan and never came for him……never went looking for him after the war. And Deanna was on that ship too! Thomas doesn’t need more than that to go full villain.

They were kinda making a big deal about the conflict between Riker and Picard and how Roddenberry didn't want stuff like that, it would be a bit of a cop out if it ended up being Tom Riker and not Will. I'd be willing to bet the conflict we see will be between Will and Picard.

About what? No idea.

Matalas mentions in a breakdown of the trailer (https://trekmovie.com/2023/02/01/ex...down-final-star-trek-picard-season-3-trailer/) that there's a reason why Crusher can only trust Picard and why she tells him to trust no one. He also mentioned elsewhere that they do utilise the Picard-synth thing during the season.

Maybe it is the Conspiracy aliens (as someone has already speculated) and Picard can't be controlled by them due to having an artificial body? Therefore he's the only one that Beverley can trust, and why Picard shouldn't trust anyone else. Just putting it out there.

I really hope not, those things sucked.... and were apparently the first mooted iteration of the Borg. (Who were going to be giant, consuming bug people)

If it is a callback this is my preference.

I was suggesting the conflict would be between Will and Picard, but would be *about* Thomas……but I agree, Thomas and Picard having conflict would be a huge cop-out.

I *really* like the suggestion of the Conspiracy aliens. Crank up the creepiness and tension and they’d be great villains!

I don't know who this person is or if they really have inside info (i.e. have seen the six episodes), but if true this tweet tells us that a single episode of TNG stands out among the rest:

https://twitter.com/AlinaIsYou/status/1620842990062436352

Matalas' response is great.

Speculation:
... I would say it's either "Conspiracy", as others have been discussing, or "Yesterday's Enterprise" and Vadic is Tasha Yar's daughter. I mean, YE was the most popular episode of the franchise. It makes sense that Matalas would pay homage.

But there are so many others to choose from. Like "Sub Rosa"!...
