Would it be cool if Captain Angel become a recurring character?

I admit I'm curious why Angel isn't around in ST V.

Probably got tired of Sybok's constant ranting about Sha Ka Ree.

(srsly. I don't see Angel putting up with talk like that)
I imagine Sybok became obsessive and myopic, to the exclusion of other relationships. A workaholic in finding Sha Ka Ree. Angel was more pragmatic and simply moved on, i.e. did the more logical thing...:vulcan::rommie:

I thought this was a pretty interesting character until they morphed into a stereotypical “moustache twirling” villain. I also though “Serene Squall” was the low point of the SNW first season, along with “Spock Amok.” Both had redeeming qualities, but “Serene Squall” in particular was a rare dumpster fire for SNW.

I do, however, look forward to seeing Sybok.

I loved the high-camp style of acting Keitel adopted for Captain Angel and consider "The Serene Squall" the best episode of the season.

I hope she is a recurring character because I was fascinated by her in her premiere episode. Her scenes with Spock were riveting.

In next appearance Angel should be forced to work WITH the Enterprise crew to solve whatever mystery turns up. I would totally love the irony in that.

Also I wouldn't mind an appearance by the real Dr. Aspen. Perhaps with tales of getting in some good skiing while awaiting rescue?

I only ever watched the movie.... oh god, was it a decade ago? But I remember something early before Kirk and gang meet him that Sybok was alone on the planet because he was the last of the religious gang or something.
A brief refresh on the transcript doesn't point to anything like that. Just that he's on a quest for "ultimate knowledge" and needs a starship. Spock doesn't mention any crimes or deaths either.

Sybok wasn't the last of the gang...he was the first.

And even then: In the opening scene, when Sybok meets J'Onn, there's no indication that Sybok hasn't amassed any followers yet. That MIGHT be true, but it doesn't have to be. Sybok could have gone out alone to recruit J'Onn while the rest of his followers wait in anticipation.

And no, there's no indication of any "massacre". Indeed, Sybok and his people were fairly harmless, all things considered....at least before he got ahold of the Enterprise.

Edit: It just hit me...ever since this episode aired, there have probably been eagle-eyed fans re-watching ST V a hundred times, trying to decipher if any of Sybok's followers in the film could actually be Angel.
