Are there any fan-favorite/well liked Characters (from any Trek) that you just can't stand?

Don't really "dislike" the character, but he was one that was just kind of "there" for me.
That's me and Torres, too.

Sometimes a specific aspect of a character might rub me the wrong way. Example, T'Pol's outfit. I can give Seven a pass because she's Borg, and Borg wear tight outfits. But Vulcans wear loose, functional outfits. T'Pol's catsuit made no sense, no matter how you try to rationalize it.

The outfit was there to emphasize Blalock's "assets". Though it is a mistake to expect everyone in a culture to have the same fashion sense or all have the same sense of what is functional.

Part of Trek's problem is that every culture is extremely homogenized. Like all Vulcan males having bowl haircuts.

Bones is a witty and cool character but he's just (lowkey) (I'm sorry) not a good doctor. (in my opinion, of course :weep:)

LOL, it is kind of weird, but kind of in refreshing way, compared to the 24th century characters usually able to do pretty much anything and quickly to have McCoy pretty frequently humbly say I need Chapel, I need a computer, I need the computer, to get to the computer.

As I've gotten older, I've realized Phillipa Louvois was right. Picard really is a pompous ass.

He does, but he also most definitely has his 'arrogant' moments as well.

Much as a dick as Q could be, I do think he taught Picard some important lessons over all those years.

I think most Picard fans would agree he is pompous but think that's just not bad or annoying and it is even mostly deserved/not inappropriate.

I definitely like at least a bit most of the popular characters but I don't like and don't really get liking for Jadzia Dax, annoying and also too often too unconvincingly, offputtingly (attempted to be) glorified, also think Trip Tucker is pretty overrated and unappealing.

I really have a tough time with tight outfits. It's annoying and feels highly impractical in most instances and any justification feels after the fact rationalization of this desire to highlight a female character.

I feel as you do. I think they got it right with Dax and Kira: they wear standard uniform most of the time, but dress sexy when it makes sense (Dax on Risa, Kira in "Meridian").

It went wrong as early as with Deanna. There was no good reason for her to not wear a uniform, at least in her function as counselor of the captain on the bridge. (Perhaps there could be some kind of rationalization for her not wearing a uniform as a therapist, to create a more relaxed atmosphere, but even then her outfit could have been less revealing).

The TOS Starfleet women at least wore Starfleet uniforms (even if sexy versions of them).

^ Very true. I agree about Troi not wearing uniforms in therapy sessions, but if she was on the bridge, she needed to dress like an officer. And Ms. Sirtis understood this; Jellico's attire change was actually her request.

^ Mostly because they let her wear a miniskirt rather than the standard pants, such as Lt. Yar wore.

(I do believe those miniskirts were supposed to be independent of sex, some men also wore them in S1, IIRC)
