Are there any fan-favorite/well liked Characters (from any Trek) that you just can't stand?

I'll have to admit that I didn't like Pavel Chekhov. For two reasons.
One was that his Russian accent was just wrong. He substituted W for V. But the letter W isn't even found in the Russian alphabet! (They do have V.)
But the other problem was how he often made remarks glorifying the Communist period of the Soviet Union. In the 22nd century or whenever? That was just silly. What I expected was exemplified by a scene from "The Squire of Gothos", where a German crewmember is shown as doing a double-take when Trelane makes a reference to German militarism as if it's still a thing. Communism should obviously have been shown, like Nazism, as a thoroughly discredited and everywhere abhorred tyranny - even, and indeed especially, in Russia itself.

I can just imagine Nog on Voyager.
In Season 1, he gets busted for petty theft.
In Season 2, he gets busted for petty theft.
In Season 3, a writer suggests having him take his life in a new direction by joining Starfleet. One of the showrunners quickly quashes the idea.
In Season 7, he gets busted for petty theft.

^what about seasons 4-6 though? Plenty of room for exciting ideas!

What do you mean?

And why Kira and Odo specifically?
personally: Odo is a dirty cop, cheerless, petty, and not particularly good at his job.
Kira can suddenly become incredibly irrational over her own culture, completely incapable of compromise, early on, though she mellows out.

Kira had a starting point that made sense. She had been a freedom fighter since she was thirteen, and the Bajorans finally managed to boot the Cardies... and then, the provisional government invites in the Federation, another major power... and one that didn't do much of anything to help while Bajor endured several decades of hell at the Cardassians' hands. It takes time for her to realize that the Federation is good for Bajor.

It's actually sort of a fitting conclusion to her arc that she takes a Starfleet commission, while carrying out a mission on Cardassia.

With respect, you're not the ''you'' he meant. Being a huge Auberjonois fan since 1978, I could not stand against him without probable cause, if then. But your response is appreciated.:bolian:

Hmmmm.....good question.

I'd say my top pick is Seven of Nine. I don't actively hate the character, because the character has been the cause or lynch-pin to several good Star Trek stories. I just don't see her as being an iconic, top-tier character. She was basically just Spock and Data redux....a "child of two worlds" discovering her humanity.

Others on the list, in no particular order:
Reginald Barclay
Pavel Chekov
Saru (Saru was a great character in the first season, and became completely neutered when they decided to eliminate his "prey" fear elements)

Kira had one of THE best growth arcs in the franchise. She certainly started off angrier and more suspicious, but that is quite understandable given her personal backstory and Bajor's recent history.

Odo... a dirty cop? I definitely don't see that. As far as cheerless... I do agree he can be very gruff, but that sort of comes with the job. Plus, we've seen him as a bit of a teddy bear multiple times. (Tough outer layer, soft and gooey center.) As far as effectiveness at his job... hard disagree. He consistently has shown himself to be the most skilled investigator in the franchise. And being Chief of Security of such a large station is no small task... especially when you compare his record to other Security Chiefs of the same era. (Worf definitely had his share of breaches, and Tuvok? There were several times where security on board that ship was a joke... like how two unarmed Ferengi stole their pod and broke free from custody on Voyager.)

If he WAS corrupt, it's news to me. I missed a good share of episodes in the middle seasons during one of my lifestyle changes. I'll bet he'd love the cuddly adjective.:borg:

Why do people who start sentences "with respect" never mean it? You ready my reply, you saw i was adding on to it. You get that. My family watched Benson growing up, so it was funny imagining Odo as a somewhat melted Clayton Endicott III

I meant it. I did read your reply. But you replied to a question asked of another poster. His opinion on Odo and Kira may differ from yours. Perhaps we'll know someday. Your first response was appreciated.

Got to say... I've never heard that situation worded in that way before.

I like it.
Of course, that's assuming baseball-headed aliens can be considered normal. That's no reflection on Ethan Phillips. A couple of decades before the Tuvix incident, four members of the Legion of Super Heroes received the Tuvix treatment.....and it was up to Wildfire to return them to Saturn Girl/Colossal Boy/Shrinking Violet/Lightning Lad status. After I read that issue, I kept thinking what a horrible thing to do to Shrinking Violet. No one was charged with murder there either. Composited together, they were a brute-force whackadoodle menace to futuristic society.
