Well, film is natively high-definition. Though TZ did have a handful of episodes shot on videotape.

The remastered original TZ looks great - I have a boxed set - but then most old b/w doesn't really need 4K treatment.

My original point was, colour TV shows that get no remastering at all look very blurry as TV screens get sharper. I saw some recent broadcasts of "Happy Days" and "Mork and Mindy" and they were dreadful. As tech for remastering gets cheaper and more efficient, I am sure DS9 and VGR will get some hind of tinkering to sharpen their images for higher quality TVs and giant screens.

It does get harder and harder to locate, though. Most seekers give up and watch something else.

I think old monochrome benefits greatly from the deeper blacks and better contrasts available in UHD on a decent screen. But yeah, watching some SD stuff on a big screen can be rough. Though a lot of TVs are capable of decent image processing that can help some stuff pass.

So, everything should be updated then because people give up easily? Like, I know I'm the outlier preferring older style of viewing to the ultra crisp unrealistic looking tech nowadays but are people that lazy they can't be bothered? Yeah, the answer is probably yes.

Glad I'm not footing that bill.

That wasn't done by CBS though, just with their help and permission.

Meaning that CBS did not have to budget for it, but still got to monitor viewer interest.

Sounds interesting, a bit banal maybe after the gritty Too Long a Sacrifice but nice to see.

Weird (accidental?) uniform variant they have there.

As an animal person, I love the premise of this. The uniforms on the cover are weird though, they look like the post-First Contact uniforms, but have the early seasons' colored shoulders.

I don’t buy the comics often these days as they are pricey but I’ll be buying this! DS9 was great at comedic romps. First thought upon seeing a deep space corgi was wondering if it was a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth who was the world’s most famous corgi lover.

I was wondering if it was a Cowboy Bebop homage, since the corgi seems to be special and an object of pursuit in some way, like Ein.

They do seem to now be using it as an overall Star Trek branding logo, regardless of series.

    And Picard...

    Subsequently changed for merchandising:

And here it is used in some TNG merchandising (with, I believe, the "The Next Generation" subtitle written in Serpentine):

At least on Disco, the show's own logo changed.
I hadn't noticed this TNG stuff, thanks. The Paramount+ shows have largely moved to a unified logo, but I hadn't known that they were branding stuff tying into the older shows this way too.

It's weird to me that the on-screen logo for Picard S2 still used Redrail Superfast. I don't think anything Picard-branded ever used it except the show itself!

So glad I checked this thread. I’ve made a note to add DS9 - The Dog of War to my comic pull list as soon as it’s available. The title and premise sounds a little “whimsical” compared to To Long A Sacrifice (which was really good) but perhaps I shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Who am I kidding, I’m such a DS9 junkie I pretty much go on a combination of autopilot/blind-faith when it comes to reading DS9 comics. Also, so far liking the new Star Trek Vol 2 comic series just ‘cause Sisko is back and the central character. So while it’s not branded as DS9, so far it counts to me.

heh IIRC the first airing of Season 3 Episode 1 used the old logo typeface (accidentally?), but they later went back and 'fixed' it.

I bet if Terry Matalas had his way, Season 3 would probably use the TNG Title Card font lol
