The Atari 2600 joystick should be banned under the Geneva Convention as a torture device.

I've spent the last couple weeks playing with one and "wow" just about covers it. Gives me hand cramps in less than a half-hour of play.

Even when they were brand new people hated them but it was all they had at the time, 3rd party items were not a thing.

There were plenty of third party devices out there during the 2600’s lifetime.

Been playing LA Noire, and I think whoever wrote the script for that game must have had serious marital problems... I don't think there was one married character in that game whose marriage wasn't a trainwreck.

    Atari 50 (PS5).

Nice collection of Atari games from across their history and interviews with programmers. Still don’t know why they keep putting paddle games on these collections, they don’t work well with modern controllers.

    Doubt!!

Kidding. But yeah, I noticed that as well during a second playthrough. I suppose it was part of the atmosphere they were trying to convey, with plenty of 'down on their luck' characters, but kind of depressing when see all those people having those problems.

For a few days i've been playing Marvel Snap.

Surprisingly good and tactical but it's getting to be a slog and grind to get new characters after Level 100. You can speed this up by paying real world money but i can't yet say if it's really pay to win if characters you get access to at much higher levels are that much better or just different.

I'd love some more feedback on the Evercade handheld. What are people's use experience? Battery time, brightness and clarity, durability?

What is the most reliable retailer to get one?

I finished God of War: Ragnarok earlier today. Now I just have to finish up all the collectibles and side quests. I'm above 80% in most worlds, so it shouldn't take me all that long.

All of the information you seek is out there. Just Google ‘Evercade reviews’.

I think my thoughts so far in the thread show that I clearly like the machine and the format. For $99, you get the handheld and three cartridges. Battery life is in the 3-4 hour range, which is more than enough for the type of games on the system. The screen isn’t an OLED, but it is serviceable for what it is. Plus, it has a mini-HDMI out which can be used to connect to any TV with an HDMI port and outputs at 720p.

I like it enough that my wife is getting me the Evercade VS for Christmas which is a console version of the handheld and outputs 1080p. Also, coming mid-December, is the Evercade EXP, an upgraded version of the original handheld for $149 and comes with 18 built-in Capcom games.

In short, I enjoy the device and format, but then I’m a sucker for retro gaming.

Thanks @BillJ that's what I was after, also how durable is the handheld? Does it feel cheap or well made?

I've had mine for almost two months and everything seems to still work fine. But don't expect the build quality of something like an Analogue Pocket.

No worries @BillJ thanks for the comments and that's been very helpful, just one last thing where did you buy yours? I'm looking for a reliable online retailer
