Finally a Star Trek Horror

ED-209

I’ve said for years Star Trek needs a horror, we finally got one in Ep 9, pretty well done to, a nice mix of Alien and Predator. Hope we see more of these episodes.

The fact that Trek feels any obligation or desire to do horror at all has always been my least favorite aspect of the franchise.

Glad someone likes it.

I liked the episode fine, but it was too much of a tribute for my liking. Trek should be a trendsetter, blazing it's own path, rather than doing blatant homages.

"Impulse" and this are in a weird league of their own.

You're going to want a DeLorean ride to 1966 for that.

My main criticism is that the alien ecology doesn't really make sense. Birth, reproduction, and birth again all in a matter of hours? I suppose if the babies just eat each other, they have a food source after birth but it's hard to see how they evolved to be an advanced spacefaring race with such odd child rearing practices. By the time they get back from the shops they'd be onto their fourth generation of inbred great grandchildren who have mostly eaten each other.

It was literally Alien. Tune in next season when we discover the Romulans are Goa'ould, meet the Jed'i order of Klingon Knights, and see the Tholians houses of the landsraad competing for the control of the Spice. OMG sTaR tReK iS sO cOol n oRiGinaL

Said no one ever.
Your concept of Star Trek is sad and not one I share. Trek has done homage throughout its history, that is not the same as theft. This wasn't doing Rashomon in "A Matter of Perspective." It was freaking Alien. And maybe the series', certainly the season's, main baddie. But okay. You go on expecting Una to have Force powers because she's midi-chlorian rich. The episode was a huge let-down for me after really liking the series, especially after the series premier.

I expect nothing of the sort. What bullshit.

I hated this episode. But I don't expect Trek to be cutting edge or cool. I expect it to entertain and tell interesting stories about semi-interesting characters. That's its purpose.
