Would it be cool to see young versions of Scotty, Chekov and Sulu appear on Strange New Worlds?

I wonder why spock was not looking at a picture of her as an adult. Seems kind of weird that he is looking at picture of her as a 7 year old. I mean they dated for months. You would think he had an adult picture of her.
I believe humans have the term "reminiscing" over their history. Certainly us aliens do not reminisce but only perform the most logical of functions and don't have nostalgia over pictures. That would be strange...:vulcan:

I dont know man. If I was going through pon far I would want to look at her as an adult...

I believe Spock was trying to deny his impulses and be spared the "ancient drives." Refocus his mind, as it were.

And if I were going through pon farr I would not be looking at any pictures but going somewhere to die peaceably.

Die peaceably?? Just cause his blood is boiling for some action?? No way. It's best to kill his friend and have action on his own terms later on...lol

I'm all for suffering by myself and not endangering others, even with cool battle music.

Just the picture his album was on when we peeked in on him.

I'd rather not have them.

Or, if they have to be there...only if they update them in the same way Uhura and Chapel were updated. So no more "x vas inwented in Rasha!" nonsense in a phoney accent.
Also, I have never looked at the timeline, but wouldn't Chekov be a teenager at the time the series takes place?

We’ll they could do Chekhov as a kid visiting the Enterprise with his parents. Who are diplomats/scientists/Starfleet/whatever. Maybe he gets the “Starfleet bug” from that adventure.

For the same reason Spock was suddenly emotional and not acting at all like himself. He may have been reminiscing about the actual mind linking ceremony at that time he was looking at the photo. But yeah, NO continuity was broken as it was never confirmed or stated that he hadn't seen T'Pring since they were 7.

I understand (though don't really agree with) saying Chapel was updated, but how was Uhura?

So...not Chekov?
I suppose you could say that Uhura has been confirmed as linguist? Also that she is trained as an officer in every department (obviously correct but now formally confirmed).

For Chapel, they are just making regular use of personality traits seen in TOS while having her apply training she was stated to have in dialogue. Trek was notorious for stating characters' qualifications and then making no use of them in the story.

Would rather characters like Gary Mitchel, Boyce, Piper, Lee Kelso, a young Nogura, Others that only got a mention.
I just don't want the "TOS" to overshadow PIKE and His crew having adventures. This is his/there show. Doesn't have to be a Prequal in that it has to have Everybody show up. Only one was Spock. that was good.

YES, these are the characters I want to see. Mitchell, Kelso, Boyce, Piper, Colt, Tyler, Decker, Wesley, Stone, Nogura, Cartwright..... they are ALL characters that could be completely fleshed out in this time period without stepping on any TOS toes.

I really want to see Rand given a similar update to Chapel but I am conscious that the cast starts to get very white and that is clearly something that they want to move away from, as evidenced by having Kyle and Jenna Mitchell being completely different from their nominal namesakes.

Also Jess Bush's Chapel has stolen some of Rand's quirky humour and is occupying some of her design space. Other female characters are also doing what Rand should have been - quick to think on her feet, inventive, giving advice, accompanying landing parties on diplomatic missions.

I would still love to see her as a regular guest character, used for more than just pushing a button or delivering food. Maybe she could become a Chief O'Brien character.

This is why I think the 2274-2279 5 year mission is doable. The SNW and early Discovery uniforms could easily be tweaked to be more TMP. Chapel's and Culber's white uniforms already reek of TMP aesthetic. You have more alien crew and all 9 of the original main recurring characters. You could even bring in pre-cadet Saavik at some point, considering she is a lieutenant undergoing advanced training in 2283.

Blimey if they want to go all out, they could do a whole story arc involving the resurrection of Decker and Ilia. Maybe it would be too reminiscent of Riker and Troi but the after effects of merging with V'Ger could make an interesting story.

This is the show that I want, more than anything, with the ship looking like the actual Movie Refit, and as much retro 70sness as they can pack in while keeping the FX modern. Transition to the monster maroons, the militarization of SF, the drama with the Klingons, and whatever huge mistake stuck Kirk behind that desk again.

Her language abilities no longer match at all with the "translation" scene in VI:TUC.

They are set quite a long time apart but there is a lot in STVI that I find self-indulgent. Former security chief Chekov not knowing how starship security works. Spock asking McCoy to help modify a torpedo instead of an actual engineering officer. Klingon security not carrying out basic security scans on high security prisoners. The list goes on.

That was definitely the fault of TUC. Uhura's linguistic skills were added circa the unmade phase 2 series to give Nichelle more to do. They were so ingrained in 80's novels and whatnot that I didn't realise they were a late addition to the character until TUC came around.

Plus, her mind is wiped clean in TOS. She's lucky she knows her name.

Its probably just old fanon of mine, but I have always looked at it as, all of the knowledge and memories were still in there, so as she relearned basic skills and reconnected the dots and re-added context, it all came back to her. She never seemed to lose any of her personality; One would not think that Movie Uhura did not remember her entire life and formative experiences because of the one-off episode. YMMV.
