Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

If anyone's interested in the Lightwave mesh I've been posting images of, it's available now for download here:

Scifi Meshes

It's in LW 2019 format, with textures and a sample scene file.

Thanks

ETA: Okay, so I forgot you have to sign up over there. I haven't been particularly active in the community for about a decade, so I've lost track of such things - there seem to be fewer places to post meshes for free public download. I think the file's considerably too big to post here, or send through my email provider. So it may take awhile to work this out.

Stephen King's guideline, IIRC, is to always try to cut your first draft by 10 percent. I've rarely been able to cut that much, but I think I cut about 12% from Only Superhuman before I sold it.

Nice work! I may download it and do some easy changes to make it more TOSlike.

In the before-times, a lot of modeling tools had invisible "negative objects" that would serve to "subtract" stuff from the model they were attached to, giving that "cut out" effect. Don't know if they still have them and are just called something else now. My knowledge on 3D modeling is, admittedly, 25 years out-of-date as my career evolved to focus more on a coding, database and web-based path. I used to love using Specular Infini-D back in the day.

Bolleans, yes. And they're what stuff like Maya has. Lightwave also has them, but for insetting shapes that follow along a complex curve – like windows in a ship's hull – the stencil tool can't be beat.

Booleans?

I think Timothy Peel's spoken about Cinema 4D...but that's for his console graphics, right?
