Spoilers Ms Marvel on Disney+

It all worked out since Kamala ended up liking what she came up with, but it still seems like would have been right to offer her the opportunity for some input.
Well she already did a costume with Bruno. This was going to be new.
But that was the point--her mother knows her well, and has made something she knew Kamala would like rather than something she wanted for Kamala to like.
Liking this post isn't enough, I have to say that you're spot on.

I mean that's a more logical and specific take on this episode, and probably avoids having multiple pages about Agents of Shield canon being shot to hell yet again in the MCU in this topic like the MCU topic gets ;)
I didn't hate AOS but I didn't love it enough to need it to be shoehorned into a completely separate series that has no actual or fanciful connection to it.

I mean, hey, did WandaVision and Loki HAVE to be all about AOS and bringing it into this universe? Honestly I don't care about AOS anymore.

And hate me for always seeing Daisy as a Marysue and fast forwarding anything to do with her.

Another thing about the costume. In Episode 1, Ammi expresses disgust at the “tight” costumes worn by superheroines and cosplayers.

In Episode 6, she makes Kamala a tighter, more form-fitting costume than she ever made for herself, and rivaling anything we see at AvengerCon.

I understand she’s more understanding toward her daughter now, but why the flip-flop on the attitude toward revealing costumes? It doesn’t seem like anything Kamala asked for.

Revealing? Really?

@Reverend I think the most glaring example of Marvel television exhibiting the MetLife building was actually on Agents of SHIELD. In one episode there is a scene that has Glenn Talbot addressing the United Nations and talking about how there were aliens coming through the portal above New York and how The Avengers saved everybody. However, the establishing shot of that scene was a New York skyline that prominently featured the MetLife building rather than Stark tower, a location that is being actively spoken about in the dialogue.

You can also spot the unmodified Metlife building briefly in Hawkeye. Looked like some sort of stock shot, it was only on screen for a couple seconds.

Not as glaring as your example though.

In Pakistan, Muneeba is reminded by her own mother that Kamala is very similar to the way she was when she was a teenager. A rebel her mother calls her. She also realizes that Kamala is not just playing around any longer but has inherited a great responsibility. That is responsible for her change in attitude. As for the costume, it is form fitting but still relatively modest. Even Kamala doesn't like the way her other costume was tight around her butt. There is a scene of her trying to cover it up. The final costume fits Kamala's personality and her culture while still making her look like a kick-ass super-hero.

Yeah, this. And she also knew that Kamala likes surprises. Some people don't, I certainly don't. Actually doing something or getting something is never as much fun for me as the planning. I actually prefer planning something that will probably never happen to being suprised, even when the surprise is a nice one. I'm so grateful that surprise birthday parties aren't a thing in my culture, and that the birthday child is expected to plan, or at least help to plan, their own party as soon as they're old enough.

I can't remember when I've last looked forward to a movie as much as I'm looking forward to The Marvels. Probably LotR...

I've read the first volume, and how she got her powers didn't complete make sense to me. It seemed very fever-dream-y/trippy.

It was part of a larger event across the marvel universe. I never read the whole thing, just the Ms. Marvel stuff, but fill in the gaps with 'Something something some disgruntled Inhuman or other deliberately covered as much public space as possible with Terrigen Mist in order to forcibly trigger the development of Inhuman powers in as many people as possible in order to make the Inhuman species much bigger/more powerful'.

The only part that was really never clearly explained was why her shapeshifting powers allowed her to look exactly like Carol Danvers the first time they manifested, yet she was never able to use them to exactly copy anyone's appearance again after that, only to change her own shape. That part was clearly conceived as a metaphor first, last and only.
