Honestly, that seven years thing means there are a lot of people ready to go on a rape murder binge on any given day. Like US gun nut numbers, likely worse. That is a society that ought to have figured out sex dolls, sex workers for the afflicted, and suppression drugs a long time ago.

Not sure how this changes anything I have said. The character currently uses they/them and that should be respected. If you can't respect a fictional trans person that doesn't bode well for us real trans people.

Sorry. If you (et al) want to be he/him or she/her or he/she, or him/her, I will refer to you as such. But I will not call any person a "they/them". Those two words are plural, not singular. You (et al) are one person, not a group.

"Somebody named Jamie left their umbrella here, could you hand it to them? I think they might be getting in their car!"

Easiest thing in the world, sweetie. You're not too old to learn new things! In fact, no adult is ever too old to learn new things!

Wrong.

don't generalize. we only saw spock and t'pring, in their specific situation.
what was your opinion before snw came out?

no simple user determines a winner, and no winner is needed :p

there simply is no canon source that supports that vulcans, generally, do it all the time.

KOV: Vulcan males are driven to mate once every seven years.

PICARD (as Sarek): I wanted to show you such tenderness. But that is not our way.

Too bad we don't know the ages of Tuvok's kids.

Once again, the character is has not been stated to be trans. Also, I've always considered trans and nonbinary to be mutually exclusive terms. If someone can explain how you can be nonbinary if you've switched from one binary to the other I'd like to hear it.

Then I'll call you a prick for not repecting people's pronoun choices, because that is what you are for doing that.

The singular 'they/them' has existed for centuries, It isn't a new creation. Now using it in the context of personal pronouns, yeah that's recent.

I'll admit it. I never used those words in that way my whole life. This is a brand new use. I wish someone would come up with something different. It doesn't sound right and it's a bit confusing and difficult to use it in a sentence correctly and not slip up the they or them.

As long as I can remember, I've always used they/them for someone I didn't know the name or gender of.
It was only fairly recently where I started using it if I didn't know just the gender of.

oh the irony…of thinking “you” to be singular!

this is very true. But languages evolve and it’s normal to stumble when using something different than what we’re used to. If one is well-intentioned I don’t think their mistakes will be held against them.

Learning new things is normal. We always learn new things, so I don't see why they/them for individuals should be any different. I've always used they/them if I didn't know anything about someone, to use it for an individual whom I am acquainted with is no issue at all.

You were a head of the curve then. I've never heard of using that for gender until very recently maybe just the last year or so. Back in he olden days we used names and how a person looked to figure out gender. Not a hundred percent effect but mostly so. Now I always worry about the people that don't even identify as a gender. I don't want to get fired or taken to court for a mistake. I fear that's were this could go one-day.

same here, first time I heard “them” used as a singular pronoun was around the introduction of Adira.

I don’t think you should have any fear of this realistically happening: we’re still asking about people and they know that people can make mistakes. If you are not super-obnoxious in using the pronoun you decided instead of the one they chose I doubt you’ll ever face anything more than a correction.

And you are speaking the language of bigotry and ignorance. We have trans members who DO care. Trolling warning given.

Trans = Your gender does not equal your sex
Non-Binary = Your gender is neither exclusively male or female.

So for example if your sex if male and your gender is non-binary then you are trans and non-binary.

Now, in practice things are obviously not always as clear-cut. Personally, I know both non-binary people who considered themselves trans and those who don't.
